CUNY SPH Foundation Board welcomes Dr. Toyin Ajayi

The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (CUNY SPH) Foundation is pleased to announce a new appointee to its Board of Directors: Dr. Toyin Ajayi.

Dr. Toyin Ajayi is a co-founder and the Chief Health Officer of Cityblock Health, a New York-based healthcare provider with a mission to improve outcomes for marginalized communities by rebuilding trust and eliminating disparities in care. A practicing primary care physician with a passion for home-based care, Toyin has spent her career improving access to integrated clinical and social services for individuals with complex health needs.  .

“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Toyin Ajayi to the Foundation’s Board of Directors,” said Dean Ayman El-Mohandes. “Her unique experience as a leader in community health and care delivery will have a meaningful impact on the Foundation’s activities as we launch new community-based programming,”

“Dr. Ajayi brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience to our board,” said CUNY SPH Foundation Executive Director Adam M. Doyno, “She doesn’t just understand public health, she’s living it and trying to improve it in underserved communities throughout Brooklyn. She recognizes the importance and value of a public school of public health serving New York City, and we couldn’t be happier to have her join us.”

The CUNY SPH Foundation is also pleased to announce that Dr. Lyndon Haviland, Chairman, Alfonso Chang, Vice Chairman, and Michael Meng, Treasurer have renewed their Board service for an additional three-year term.

“Lyndon, Alfonso, and Michael have each made invaluable contributions to the Foundation since day one,” said Doyno. “I am confident that their continued leadership and service will play a major role in the growth and success of the Foundation for years to come.”

“These three individuals are the backbone of the Foundation,” said Dean El-Mohandes. “They have constantly challenged us to grow and think creatively as a young organization. Their fierce commitment to public health education inspires me, our faculty and students as we work to bolster the public health infrastructure in the face of COVID-19.”

The Foundation has also accepted the resignations of Leah Abraham and Yin Ho, who have elected not to pursue new terms. Both joined the Board as inaugural members in June 2018 and served meaningful and impactful two-year terms.

“We are deeply grateful for Leah and Yin’s contributions as inaugural members of our Board of Directors,” said Lyndon Haviland, Chairman. “Their guidance at the very beginning of the Foundations development and through its first two years of operations made a lasting impact on our school and students.
