One-Year Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree

What is the program?

The One-Year MPH is a fully online, rigorous, accelerated program. It delivers the full curriculum of the traditional two-year MPH, but in just three semesters (summer, fall, and spring) at a higher level of intensity. 

Who is it for?

This program is ideal for high-achieving students who want to launch their public health careers faster. It is not recommended that students work full-time while pursuing this accelerated program. 

Time commitment?

Students should plan for 49–50 hours per week in the summer and 45 hours per week in both the fall and spring. This program can only be completed when started in the summer session.

Why should I apply?

By earning your master’s degree in just one year, you can move more quickly into your field – saving time and building momentum toward your career goals. Apply by May 1 for a June 1 start.

Admissions Information

Admissions Requirements

  • Completed SOPHAS application
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university with GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Personal statement/statement of purpose (recommended length is 500 words)
  • Background in the field: paid or volunteer experience in public health or related field
  • Resume
  • 2 Letters of recommendation
  • TOEFL scores are required if language of instruction for prior degrees was not English
  • Transcript evaluation from WES or ECE for foreign transcripts.
  • Program specific requirements (see program pages for details).

Application Deadlines

  • Summer 2027 application deadline is May 1, 2027
  • Applications for Summer 2027 will open on August 12, 2026
