CUNY SPH is delighted to announce that Jeffrey V. Lazarus, who has been serving as Senior Scholar at the school, has been appointed professor of global health in the department of Health Policy and Management.
Dr. Lazarus has been collaborating with CUNY SPH on a series of international studies around government response to COVID-19 and vaccine hesitancy around the world, including leading a recent global consensus statement in Nature on how to end COVID-19 as a public health threat.
Dr. Lazarus as head of the health systems team at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Barcelona. He is co-chair of the HIV Outcomes Beyond Viral Suppression Coalition and on the EASL Policy and Public Health Committee.
Previously, Dr. Lazarus worked for 11 years at WHO Europe and for three at the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, as well as serving as the founding director of Health Systems Global and the board chair of the foundation AFEW International.
