Dr. Lynn Roberts named Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations

We are pleased to announce that, after surpassing expectations in the role of Interim Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations over the past year, Dr. Lynn Roberts was appointed Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Relations.

In her new, permanent role, Dr. Roberts will continue to foster student engagement and provide vision for the programs that enhance the overall student experience at the School, building partnerships, setting benchmarks, developing best practices, and leading collaborative efforts. She is committed to providing a more comprehensive and coordinated continuum of services and support to the student body, solidifying an innovative student recruitment strategy, and enhancing engagement with our growing alumni network.

CUNY has been Roberts’ academic home since 1995. Before CUNY SPH was officially established in 2016, she was a faculty member,track coordinator and advisor to several student organizations in the Urban Public Health Program and affiliated faculty member in the Department of Women and Gender Studies at Hunter College.Prior to CUNY, she oversaw the development, implementation and evaluation of several programs for women and youth in NYC, including a comprehensive program for substance using mothers and their families in Harlem.

Dr. Roberts’ current activism and scholarship examine the intersections of race, gender and other marginalities in adolescent dating relationships, juvenile justice and reproductive health policies; as well as the impact of models of collaborative inquiry and teaching on civic and political engagement. Since 2015, she has been a consultant to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in support of their efforts to integrate a Sexual and Reproductive Justice framework in their work.
