DPH student, Katrina Mateo, presented at the Society of Behavioral Medicine Annual Meeting in San Diego, California in March.
Her presentation titled, “Development of La Vida INC, a mobile-enabled interactive comic to promote healthy eating among urban Hispanic youth,” was a qualitative study that was part of a larger project that incorporates user-centered approaches throughout development of an interactive nutrition comic web app to promote healthy eating and decrease obesity risk among urban Latino/Black pre-adolescents. This approach of co-creating comic content and co-designing the UI/UX of early web app prototypes with youth is important as it may lead to increased adoption, engagement, and sustained use.
Congratulations, Katrina!
