Urban Food Policy Forum – Food Is Medicine, Mayor Adams in support

On February 24, join the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute and guest practitioners and policy experts to learn more about the most recent developments in this rapidly growing field of research, policy, and practice. This forum will focus on the policies to replicate, scale, and finance food as medicine programs, from medically-tailored meals to prescription produce programs.

“Mayor Adams thanks the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute for bringing advocates, practitioners, and policymakers together to explore the growing ‘food is medicine’ movement in its upcoming forum. The Mayor has long been an advocate for transforming the City’s food system, rooted in his personal journey of overcoming Type 2 diabetes by adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet. He has an ambitious agenda to support the health of New Yorkers by improving the food the city serves in schools, hospitals, and other public facilities, and by advancing efforts by healthcare providers to promote nutritional health. Mayor Adams looks forward to participating in future conversations about how policies can increase food security and improve population health.”
