MPH in Sexual and Reproductive Justice & Health for Albert Einstein College of Medicine Students

The MPH in Sexual and Reproductive Justice & Health prepares students to address critical issues in sexual and reproductive health through a justice-centered, interdisciplinary approach to public health. Grounded in the reproductive justice framework established by a group of Black women leaders in 1994, the program centers intersectionality, community voices, and systems change. Students examine the historical and social context of the health care delivery system, the policies and political forces that shape health inequities, and the systems of power, privilege, and oppression that affect access to care and support.

The curriculum was developed through a collaborative process led by the  Sexual & Reproductive Justice Hub at CUNY SPH. Faculty, students, practitioners, activists, and community partners all helped shape a course of study that is academically rigorous and directly applicable to practice.

Pre-Application Requirements

Medical students enrolled at Einstein who are pursuing their MDs, have successfully completed the Year 1 Fall semester at Einstein, and are in good academic standing, may enroll in online core courses at CUNY SPH, taken on a non-matriculated basis, during the Summer session. Such students will continue their full-time coursework at Einstein during their second and third years. During the Fall semester of their third year, these students may formally apply for admission to the MPH program via a no-fee, fast-track application.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for the CUNY SPH fast-tracked application process, students must have remained in good academic standing at Einstein by the end of their second year and have a cumulative GPA in their CUNY SPH online courses of 3.7 or greater. If admitted to the program, students will follow the recommended sequence listed below.

Einstein students who do not meet the criteria for the CUNY SPH fast-track application process may complete the standard CUNY SPH application available on SOPHAS and pay the application fee to have their application reviewed by the CUNY SPH Admissions Committee for decision.

Students are required to meet with the coordinator/advisor from each institution upon entering the program to confirm degree requirements, course sequencing, and research plans, and then at least once per semester thereafter.
