POSITION: Research Assistant (Part-Time)

ORGANIZATION: CUNY Health Equity and Access to Care Project (HEAC

The Project The Health Equity and Access to Care (HEAC) project focuses on individuals’ experiences with healthcare in New York City (NYC). It is a multi‐year collaboration with the Bureau of Equitable Health Systems at the NYC.  Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. The project comprises focus groups and interviews with a diverse sample of NYC residents.

The Position: We are looking to hire several part-time research assistants (RAs) who will be responsible for assisting to recruit project participants and will work closely with the HEAC Project Coordinator and other team members. The RAs will engage with New Yorkers and organizations in neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs to invite them to participate in focus groups and post project flyers. This outreach will consist of, but not be limited to: flyer distribution, event attendance and tabling, community presentation, attendance at community events, and other activities as required by the project.
This position requires frequent travel to a variety of locations and event throughout NYC. Applicants must be comfortable traveling throughout the city and have the flexibility to attend occasional events on weekends and evenings.

Applicant Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a combination of the following:
 experience with or interest in research participant engagement and recruitment
 strong interpersonal and organizational skills
 comfortable interacting professionally with people from diverse cultural, racial,
ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds
 exhibit a professional and positive attitude
 ability to adapt to changing circumstances
 CITI certification (or obtain it prior to starting the position)
 working knowledge of a language other than English (preferred)

Time Commitment and Compensation
Depending on the number of RAs hired, the positions may range between 10 and 19 hours/week, with an hourly rate between $22-25 depending on experience. Work will involve travel to different NYC locations for outreach and recruitment
events, as well as on-site work at the CUNY SPH campus. The position is available to be filled immediately.

POSITION: Nutrition Educator – After School Program (part-time)   

ORGANIZATION: ALLERGIC TO SALAD

Allergic to Salad is a health-based youth culinary program. We offer hands-on, from-scratch CORE- and STEM-based cooking classes to after-school and in-school programs for students aged pre-K through high school.

Description:
The company is seeking reliable, self-motivated, independent, fun-loving and child-loving part-time youth food educators to join our team. The youth food educators work closely with Allergic to Salad founder and director, Stacey Ornstein and ATS’s program officer, with potential for growth into independent self-led positions. This person(s) is responsible for leading and/or assisting kids cooking events (classes, parties and special events). Classes are in various locations around the city. 

Duties include:

  • Leading kids’ cooking classes, for children aged 4 to 16.
  • Prep for classes: purchasing groceries and prepping/cleaning, as necessary.
  • Clean up: must leave locations in condition found, or cleaner.
  • Lead, supervise and aid children during cooking while building a discourse on relevant food topics.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with both parents and children.
  • Follow up after classes with Allergic to Salad and Site Director.
  • Maintain a positive, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

Payment terms:
Note that payment is PER CLASS, not hour. Base payment is $85 PER one-hour CLASS. Longer classes are paid at a higher rate. Educators are responsible for food purchases, averaging $15 per class, and should factor set up for class (about 20 minutes) and clean up post class (about 20 minutes) as part of base rate. (Take home pay, post food purchase and figuring for class set up and clean up tends break down to approx. $20-25/ HOUR.)

POSITION: Lecturer

POSITION: Project Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: U.S. Alcohol Policy Alliance USAPA

USAPA is looking for a part-time Project Coordinator to help our organization achieve its mission. This person will support the Alliance’s training and technical assistance activities to help support converting alcohol policy research into practice. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for managing all training and TA requests, maintaining the Alliance online resource hub, organizing a set of virtual interactive dialogues, coordinating a research roundtable, and helping the Center for Advancing Alcohol Science to Practice with regular logistical and organizational support.

POSITION: HHS Maternal and Child Health Performance Measurement, Data Analysis, and Informatics Fellowship

HRSA’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) is seeking an ORISE Fellow to support the activities of MCHB and specifically the Office of Epidemiology and Research (OER). The Fellow would be assigned to OER within the Division of Epidemiology (DE).

The mission of OER is to:1) Build data capacity at the national, State and local levels; 2) Strengthen the present and future workforce in maternal and child health (MCH) epidemiology and research; 3) Support applied research to ensure that MCH initiatives are evidence-based and reflect the state-of-the-science; and 4) Disseminate information and strengthen the evidence base in MCH.

POSITION: Senior Service Fellow (Epidemiologist)

This position is located in CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity and Obesity (DNPAO). Within DNPAO, the position is located in the Nutrition Branch’s (NB), International Micronutrient Malnutrition Prevention and Control (IMMPaCt) Team. The IMMPaCt Team works with global partners to contribute CDC skills and resources to eliminate vitamin and mineral deficiencies among vulnerable populations throughout the world.

Salary: $104,008- $135,209

Duties:

  • Provide expertise to support micronutrients related research, monitoring, evaluation, and surveillance for the Nutrition Branch’s (NB), International Micronutrient Malnutrition Prevention and Control (IMMPaCt) Team.
  • Provide technical assistance in the design, planning, implementation, and reporting of population based micronutrient surveys and surveillance systems, as well as monitoring systems and evaluations for micronutrient interventions in identified countries.
  • Develop survey protocols, instruments and all procedures for data collection; conduct trainings; carry out data management and analysis; write reports and disseminate results for micronutrient surveys, surveillance systems, monitoring systems, and evaluations of micronutrient delivering interventions.
  • Write monitoring and evaluation manuals for micronutrient interventions and other technical resources to support micronutrient intervention development, monitoring, surveillance, and evaluation.
  • Conduct complex statistical analyses for reports and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Disseminate information within CDC and present externally (e.g. national and international meetings and conferences) under guidance of CDC staff.
  • Routinely communicate information with CDC management and staff and document program activities and efforts.
  • Communicate and collaborate with public, private, academic and civic organizations/groups.
  • Carry out CDC clearance for documents, manuscripts, and other publications, as delegated.
