POSITION: PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program

The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program is excited to announce an off-cycle, one-year pilot program to provide opportunities for recent graduates interested in exploring a career in global health. We are seeking candidates with graduate degrees from minority-serving institutions interested in gaining global health training and experience working with the CDC. Selected finalists will participate in a one-year full time training fellowship opportunity starting January 2022 in Atlanta, GA, working alongside leading experts across CDC on global health-related projects, focusing on one of five different technical tracks: Epidemiology, Surveillance, Program Management, Strategic Information, and Monitoring & Evaluation.
The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program, implemented by the Public Health Institute, is funded by the CDC to offer qualified individuals the opportunity to gain global health experience and develop technical skills to address emerging public health threats. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Interested candidates must have received a Master’s or Doctoral degree completed by the end of December 2021 or within the past five years (no earlier than February 2017) from a Minority-Serving Institution, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and Asian America and Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AAPISIs). You can search for your institution here. The degree should have a focus or be relevant to one of the five technical tracks noted above. The applicant must be either a U.S. Citizen or national (residents of American Samoa and Swains Island) but there are some exceptions, and authorized to work in the U.S.

POSITION: NYSPHC Fellowship Program
ORGANIZATION: NYS Department of Health
The New York State Public Health Corps (NYSPHC) will build public health capacity to support COVID-19 vaccination operations and to increase preparedness for future public health emergencies. The NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) will work with community partners to identify and train up to 1,000 fellows to participate in the NYSPHC Fellowship Program.
The NYSPHC Fellowship Program will be mobilized across the State in response to both the current and future public health emergencies.
The NYSPHC Fellowship Program provides full-time, compensated positions with commitment to at least a one-year term. Full-time employment includes a minimum of 35 hours per week and will be determined by human resources of the location assignment. Fellows will be compensated approximately the following: Fellows – $41,000; Graduate Fellows – $54,000; and Senior Fellows: $64,000.
Candidates for the full-time, paid NYSPHC Fellowship Program include recent graduates and students advanced in their studies in public health programs, nursing schools and medical schools, retired medical professionals, and laypeople, each of whom will be concurrently enrolled in Cornell University’s Public Health Essentials Certificate Program. Individuals with training in public health, medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacology/pharmacy, allied health, social services, communications and information technology, logistics planning, education, and emergency health programs are encouraged to apply.

POSITION: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Addiction and Implementation Science in Psychology
ORGANIZATION: University of Maryland, College Park
We are looking to recruit a postdoc with interest in addiction treatment and implementation science in underserved, marginalized communities, preferably with experience with both qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including longitudinal data analysis. There will be numerous opportunities for publications in the areas of substance use, implementation science, and peer delivery, including from two hybrid effectiveness-implementation trials of peer-delivered behavioral activation interventions in underserved communities in Baltimore and Detroit. Primary responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: data analysis and manuscript preparation, grant preparation, research staff supervision and mentorship, and clinical supervision (if applicable). Supervised clinical hours for licensure will be available focused on treating underserved, minority individuals with substance use, mental health, and co-occurring health conditions, including opportunities for integrated primary care. The position will be based at University of Maryland, College Park, the flagship campus of University of Maryland, located 5 miles outside of Washington DC, and 30 miles from Baltimore.
The postdoctoral associate should have completed the requirements for his or her PhD in psychology, public health, or a related behavioral sciences field. A successful candidate would have a strong publication history and record of securing external funding, excellent social, organizational, writing and data analysis skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners. Candidates with advanced quantitative data analytic skills, and/or both qualitative and quantitative experience are preferred. Opportunities for independent data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing will be available and encouraged. This fellowship has the potential to lead to a faculty position depending on the candidate’s ability to develop his or her own clinical research portfolio, teaching and supervision interests, and interest in collaborating on existing funded projects.

POSITION: The Behavioral Sciences Training in Drug Abuse Research (BST)
ORGANIZATION: NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing
MISSION: This fellowship program supports behavioral scientists from all disciplines interested in learning about and developing careers in advanced research in the area of drug use and misuse.
OUR PROGRAM: The Behavioral Sciences Training in Drug Abuse Research (BST) program at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing is the largest and oldest training program for behavioral scientists funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse since 1984. It provides intensive training to 16 fellows (9 predocs and 7 postdocs)—about half of whom are minorities—from the various behavioral disciplines (including public health, social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology as well as nursing). They work in a mutually supportive milieu to gain hands-on experience conducting research, build their publication records and write grants for outside funding. Fellows specialize in a wide range of topics, such as drugs among college students, doping in sports, drugs and crime, HIV risk factors and interventions, drug treatment, politics and drug policy, international research. BST is directed by Drs. Gregory Falkin and George De Leon, both experts in the area of drug treatment. The Role
As a Health and Benefits Intern, you will work beside some of the industry’s top consultants while you progress toward becoming a thought leader of the future.

The Requirements
- Progress towards a Bachelors or Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, public health, health management, actuarial science or any other major with significant quantitative course work with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0

- Work experience that demonstrates strong technical and/or client service skills (analyst type of internship preferred)
- Passion for solving problems and sharing solutions to exceed the standards of the client
- Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, but also cooperatively in a close team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
