POSITION TITLE: Communications Assistant
ORGANIZATION: CUNY Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy
The CUNY SPH Office of Communications is seeking a Communications Assistant to help with routine functions of the communications office including drafting emails for our internal and external audiences, assisting with newsletters, creating student-focused content for the school’s social media channels, implementing website updates, and related duties as assigned. The individual will report to the Director of Communications. This position is remote, part time (19 hours/week), and has an end date of 12/31/21, with the potential to be renewed.
Duties
Assist with routine functions of the communications office, including:
- Prepare drafts of mass emails using MailChimp
- Update and maintain mailing lists in Mailchimp
- Implement routine content edits and updates on the school’s website
- Augment the school’s social media channels with student-focused content
- Related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent written communication skills
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and complete objectives in a timely manner
- Experience with website development and maintenance, preferably on the WordPress platform
- Proficiency in Mailchimp
- Experience with data cleaning and management
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Strong familiarity with and interest in public health
Compensation
- $25 per hour
- Maximum 19 hours a week

POSITION TITLE: Paid Qualitative Research Opportunity, Food Insecurity Interviews
ORGANIZATION: CUNY SPH, Community Health & Social Sciences department
Food Insecurity is a long standing concern and many strategies have been put forth and interventions continue to be implemented to address this concern. This issue has been also been further exacerbated by to COVID 19 pandemic. Clinical settings are a promising site for addressing food insecurity of patients that, thus far, have been underutilized.
In late summer/early fall Tatanisha Peets, a doctoral student in the Community Health & Social Sciences department, began interviewing clinical dietitians at a healthcare facility in NYC regarding their perspectives on screening and referring for food insecurity. The project will involve approximately 20 interviews, approximately 45-60 minutes in length. Interviews will use a semi-structured interview guide which will assist with interview coding.
Tatanisha Peets is looking for a Doctoral or Master’s student with qualitative research experience to assist in activities that will ensure the rigor and quality of the analysis.
Timing is flexible and compensation is 90 hours at $25.00 per hour. Research assistance work will take place over the Fall 2021 semester, for 5-10 hours per week.
General Responsibilities include:
- Transcript verification. Quality check of transcripts against the transcription function in Zoom. Assist with data cleaning /organizing of qualitative in-depth interview transcripts.
- Serve as a second qualitative coder. Assist with development/ review of code book
