POSITION: Office and People Operations Coordinator

About the position:

Stellar has grown quickly this year and our People needs have increased in lockstep with our headcount growth. Stellar is seeking an Office & People Operations Coordinator who will join our small HR team and manage people processes related to recruiting, office administration, employee experience, and HR administration. HR is responsible for everything from recruiting and onboarding, to benefits administration, employee experience, and office administration.

This role will report to our Director, HR and will work cross functionally with all teams at Stellar. In addition to acting as an internal point of contact, the People Ops Coordinator will be an external Ambassador for Stellar, helping to grow our brand in the market.

As an Office & People Ops Coordinator, you will be responsible for three key areas:

Office Management ~ 40%

  • Ensuring employees have an effective and productive working environment, regardless of whether they are working in our office or remotely
  • Working with our COVID Task Force Team to ensure any return-to-work plans are communicated effectively to employees and other stakeholders
  • Managing the ordering and tracking of office supplies…and ideally creating effective systems for scaling tracking efforts as we grow
  • Thinking creatively about programs, swag, communications, and anything else that we could roll out that would contribute to our culture. (This point is very important to us.)

People Operations ~ 40%

  • Recruiting Coordination and ensuring our 30 + weekly interviews are running smoothly for both hiring managers and candidates
  • Assisting with sourcing efforts across all of our open roles
  • Coordinating onboarding efforts, and partnering with managers, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure new hires are have a warm and effective welcome to the Stellar Team
  • Managing the coordination of various HR and L & D programs including Ethena, Manager Training, and DE & I Training
  • Managing E-verify and our Background check process
  • Helping ensure our HR data is up to date and correct, as well as reporting on data as needed

Employee Experience ~ 20%

  • Partnering with Stellar Improvements Team to identify ways we can make Stellar better
  • Managing the ordering of swag, employee gifts, business cards, and other items for employees
  • Ensuring employee birthdays and milestones are celebrated internally
  • Managing our calendar of events including Lunch & Learns, Socially-Distanced lunches and dinners, and any fun ideas that would bring the team together

Note: the expected split of duties may morph and change depending on our growth and needs.The ability to roll with the punches, as well as ruthlessly prioritize, will be critical for success in this role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in an HR, Recruiting, EA, or Office Admin role
  • Strong preference for individuals who have worked in high-growth industries
  • Super-positive, roll-up-the-sleeves, and can-do attitude. If something needs to get done, you’ll do it and do it with a flourish
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills are a must. You have a system that helps keep you on time, on task, and accountable for deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, high empathy, and high integrity are required
  • Previous experience working with MSFT Office is required
  • Preference for individuals who have worked with an HR technology stack (Greenhouse, Lever, BambooHR, Lattice, CultureAmp, etc.)

POSITION: Community Stewardship Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: Guardians of Flushing Bay

About GoFB:

Guardians of Flushing Bay (Guardians), founded in 2015, is a non-profit organization and coalition of human-powered boaters, park users and local residents advocating for a healthy and equitably accessible Flushing Bay. Through waterfront programming, hands on stewardship, community visioning and grassroots advocacy Guardians strives to realize Flushing Waterways as a place where our watershed residents can learn, work and thrive.

Position Description:

Guardians of Flushing Bay (GoFB) is seeking a part-time Community Stewardship Coordinator to help with the following ongoing projects under the supervision of the Program Coordinator:

  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator and board members to create public programming on stewardship, environmental justice, water quality pollution and
  • GoFB advocacy campaigns. Programming will be primarily online and in person when possible in alignment with COVID-19 guidelines (30% of time);
  • Lead maintenance efforts on Guardians of Flushing Bay’s in water stewardship projects including an in water quality sensor, a floating wetland dock and community science water quality sampling. These projects will be completed in alignment with COVID-19 guidelines and are flexible based on candidate (20%);
  • Assist with developing, populating and managing GoFB’s volunteer management platform using Salesforce (15%);
  • Create and manage original content for GoFB’s social media platforms that focuses on environmental justice, open space equity, resilient design and grassroots stewardship (15%);
  • Collaborate on educational curriculum for the Flushing Waterways Stewardship Toolkit (15%);
  • General project support, as needed. This may include on-the-ground research, website upkeep, grant research and administrative work (5%).

The selected candidate will work in close collaboration with the Guardians of Flushing Bay Program Coordinator, GoFB’s only employee, and in frequent communication with GoFB’s board and two programmatic committees. The candidate should anticipate both collaborative and independent projects. Contingent on COVID-19 guidelines and the candidate’s personal needs, all work will either be entirely remote or remote plus waterfront activities 4-6 times a month. GoFB will provide office equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

We are looking for a candidate who has the following qualifications. It is not required to have all of the listed qualifications as long as they are open to learning and a strong communicator.

  • Thrives with hands on learning and an independent work environment;
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Has a strong interest in environmental science, urban studies or design, environmental justice, education, grassroots organizing or a related field;
  • Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese or Korean in addition to English;
  • Graphic design or mapping skills are a plus;
  • A college degree in a relevant subject or 2-4 years of work experience is preferred;

Rate, Location and Timeframe:

Dr. Hankerson’s research is focused on reducing racial mental health disparities. Currently, his team is focused on engaging African American faith-based organizations (FBOs) in ways to increase mental health literacy, reduce stigma, and address socio-cultural barriers to care.

The Research Assistant will complete the following activities

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  1. Investigations/Studies. Under the guidance of an epidemiologist/toxicologist:

Identifies populations currently exposed to levels of hazardous chemicals above health based guidelines where specific actions are necessary, to mitigate and/or prevent adverse health effects and develop recommendations and plans to accomplish same.

As part of the public health assessment process, identifies/supports identification of specific actions and develops recommendations/plans to mitigate or prevent adverse health effects linked to National Priority List (NPL) sites and other hazardous waste sites.  Supports epidemiologic research and investigation, when needed, in collaboration with partner agencies, regarding environmental hazards and concerns.

1.5. Prevention and control.  Using best practices and published guidance for the situation, produce documents with recommendations to eliminate/minimize harmful environmental exposures to protect the health of communities.  Leads or supports the development of collaborative relationships with community agencies and groups engaged in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recommendations made in public health assessment reports.

  1. Surveillance.  Identifies, reviews, and evaluates health-relevant databases and health studies to assess past and current health outcome parameters associated with populations impacted by hazardous waste sites and other harmful environmental exposures to determine if outcome parameters need to be modified.
  2. Consultation.  Under the guidance of an epidemiologist/toxicologist:

Provides professional consultation and technical assistance to federal and state agencies, county health departments, community leaders and concerned citizens regarding public health issues arising from hazardous waste sites, harmful environmental exposures or chemical release incidents.

Serves as a resource person at meetings with community leaders, residents, citizen groups and others on public health related issues involving hazardous waste sites.

Works with other Appletree staff in establishing a stakeholder group and/or focus group and developing site-specific evaluation plans, annual work plan, and annual program evaluation.

Presentation, Publication, and Dissemination of Data.  Supports efforts to collect human health outcome data pertaining to hazardous sites and other harmful environmental exposures.  Evaluates environmental data using health-based standards and writes technical and comprehensive documents, provides consultation and technical advice upon request, investigates environmental health issues and recommends actions.  Assists other members of the Appletree team in duties including, but not limited to, advanced data analysis using statistical software (e.g.SAS, SPSS), writing and reviewing reports, creating GIS maps, making abstracts and presentations.  Attends Community Advisory Group (CAG) meetings and answers questions from CAG members.  Assists the primary person responsible for maintaining and updating all environmental health fact sheets on the department of health environmental health web page.  Travels to attend CAG meeting, meeting with partners such as PADEP, environmental protection agency (EPA), ATSDR, local/county health departments and with focus group and stakeholder group members when needed.

Grant and Program Support.  Supports the epidemiologist/toxicologist in preparing grant applications.  Collaborates with the Appletree team to successfully accomplish all tasks outlined in the funded grant application document in a timely manner by working closely with other state and federal agencies such as the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP), the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), and others within the Bureau of Epidemiology and the Department of Health.

Exercise of Staff Leadership.  Leads evaluation of public health hazards for the Section using a wide range of health and environmental information.  Works with health educator in outreach and health education to citizens and providers in affected communities as needed in collaboration with the DOH Office of Communications.  Under the guidance of an epidemiologist/toxicologist, ERA will work with the health educator in developing and implementing health education activities in affected communities.  Supports development and distribution of community outreach materials such as fact sheets and chemical-specific FAQ documents as needed.

Work requires occasional statewide travel and irregular/flexible work hours including overnights, weekends and holidays in accordance with policy.  Employee may travel using public transportation, private transportation or carpooling with other epidemiology investigation team members as assigned.

Public Health Emergency Response: This position may be assigned to an emergency assignment to support the public health emergency response mission of the Department of Health.  Emergency assignments could at times be received with little or no advance notice, and may continue for any period of time – ranging from a few hours to several weeks, depending upon the nature of the circumstance. The emergency assignments may at times be performed under adverse conditions and may require travel to another site other than the employee’s assigned headquarters for periods of time.

Qualifications:

  • PA residency currently waived for this title

We are seeking talented, conscientious, and enthusiastic individuals to join Columbia Research Unit to support our community engagement activities as we educate, recruit and enroll people into studies that are designed to evaluate the safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy of HIV vaccines, COVID-19 vaccines, and the infusion of broadly neutralizing HIV and COVID antibodies.

Type of Research: 

The new hire will be a vital part of Columbia Research Unit’s Community Engagement team and the primary roles will be that of HIV and COVID research educator, recruiter, and pre-screener. Examples of studies we conduct include, but are not limited to

  • HIV vaccine studies among HIV-negative people at low-risk of getting HIV to assess the safety of vaccine products
  • HIV vaccine studies among HIV-negative people at study-defined high risk to evaluate the safety and efficacy of vaccine products
  • COVID studies among people that previously tested positive for COVID to test treatment medications
  • COVID studies among people that previously tested positive for COVID or were regularly exposed to COVID-19, such as health care workers
  • COVID vaccine studies among people that never got COVID-19 and that are at study- defined high risk of getting COVID

POSITION: Study Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: Harlem Prevention Center / ICAP at Columbia University

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Study Coordinator will collaborate and oversee all activities related to COVID grant-funded research conducted at designated NYC satellite sites of Harlem Prevention Center (HPC) Clinical Research Site (CRS), including site initiation and protocol start-up activities, regulatory requirements, recruitment and retention plans and implementation, data management, and quality assurance and control activities. The Study Coordinator will work closely with the CRS Leader, CRS Coordinator, site Principal Investigator, satellite site study investigators and coordinators and staff in the implementation of study goals and objectives.

POSITION: Study Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medicine, Montefiore Health System

Seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Study Coordinator (SC) to join a social justice and mission driven research group. The Study Coordinator will work part-time on several studies related to HIV prevention and PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) access. The first project is a study to test the delivery PrEP through telemedicine in partnership with a community-based organization serving Latino immigrant sexual minority men. The second project aims to develop and test new PrEP delivery strategies designed to increase PrEP uptake, engagement, and retention among Black and Latino sexual minority men in the Bronx. The projects will occur in Bronx-based clinical sites and NYC-based community organizations as well as virtually. The Study Coordinator may also be involved in additional, related pilot projects.

The SC will be involved in all aspects of research, including participant recruitment, data collection, data management and analysis, coordination of study meetings, and overseeing study implementation at research sites. We are seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences, psychology, public health, or related field and at least 1 year experience with managing research projects. The SC will ideally be conversationally fluent in Spanish.
