Since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24 of this year, more than 10 million people – roughly twenty-five percent of all Ukrainians – have fled their homes and/or country in the largest migration flows in a century. Join the CUNY SPH Center for Immigrant, Refugee, and Global Health for a special Dean’s Grand Rounds webinar that will discuss the impacts of this crisis within Ukraine as well as on its neighbors, on Europe and on the rest of the world. Special emphasis will be given to the challenges faced by countries hosting the largest numbers of Ukrainians, the importance of connecting immediate relief with longer-term solutions, and the role of women in responding to this crisis.
The event will host a panel discussion with:
Dr. Victor Boguslavsky, Senior Technical Advisor of the Center for Technical Excellence at the University Research Co., LLC.
Madeleine Rees, MADRE Global Strategies Advisor and Secretary General of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom
Dr. Jasmijn Slootjes, Senior Policy Analyst with the Migration Policy Institute, Europe
Dr. Paul Spiegel, Director of the Center for Humanitarian Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and member of the WHO surge mission to Poland
