Join us for our first “Lunch with a Leader” session of the fall semester, featuring Jason M. Gaines, associate director of human resources.
In his presentation, Jason will challenge participants by asking the question: Can an organization look diverse while everyone in the room thinks alike?
Jason’s presentation will expand the traditional conversation about diversity by exploring how differences in perspective, experience, problem-solving, and generational outlook can strengthen teams and improve decision-making. This session will examine the relationship between representation and thought diversity, the risks of groupthink, and the leadership practices that help people feel safe enough to question assumptions and contribute their best ideas. Participants will leave with practical strategies for building more inclusive, innovative, and intellectually courageous workplaces.
About the speaker
Jason M. Gaines, MSOL, is the associate director of human resources at CUNY SPH. Now in his 20th year at CUNY, he brings extensive HR leadership experience, along with a deep passion for supporting people and cultivating workplaces where they can thrive. Jason holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Lehman College, where he currently serves as an instructor for the graduate course Leveraging Human Capital. He also holds multiple certifications in emotional intelligence, intentional leadership, and managing for excellence.
We encourage staff and faculty to attend in-person, but there will be an option to take part virtually.
Please note this lecture will be held in-person. Light refreshments will be served and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunches.
