The MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences program prepares students to recognize, analyze and control environmental and occupational threats to health in a scientific framework. Students learn to assess and measure exposures to environmental and occupational hazards, examine the relationships between exposures and health outcomes in built, natural, and social contexts and develop control strategies to remediate these exposures.

Students can select one of the following four focus areas, or create their own plan in consultation with their academic advisor:

  1. Climate change and health preparedness
  2. Environmental and occupational epidemiology
  3. Geospatial environmental health
  4. Occupational health and safety

The one-year MPH is a rigorous, accelerated program for driven professionals who want to jump start their careers with a public health degree. It delivers the full curriculum of the traditional two-year MPH, but in just three semesters (one summer, fall, and spring) at a higher level of intensity. It is not recommended students work full-time while pursuing this program.
