The photography of MPH student Monique Jaques was featured in National Geographic, documenting the Covid-19 vaccine rollout in West Virginia. The state recently became an unlikely leader in the national vaccine effort—it is now is among the top six states with the greatest proportions of fully vaccinated residents.

Jaques is a documentary photographer working on issues related to gender and healthcare and also a second-semester student at CUNY SPH in the Community Health track with a specialization in Maternal, Child, Reproductive, and Sexual Health (MCRSH).

She has covered a range of health care issues such as maternal mortality after Ebola and PrEP in Kenya and is currently a contracted photographer working with JHPIEGO, the NGO arm of Johns Hopkins.
