Dear colleagues,
I share with you the Chancellor’s most recent message regarding two issues of critical importance to us all: the resumption of classes in the fall and how best to respond to the federal government’s unjust policy regarding international students.
The CUNY Board of Trustees voted last week to give the University broad leeway in choosing how to deliver instruction and student support services in the coming semester. CUNY SPH will determine which of the suggested strategies is in the best interest of our graduate student population. At present we are also considering how best to protect and support our international students.
I and the rest of the CUNY SPH leadership are aware that our students, faculty, and staff are eager for a clear decision, and I assure you that these issues are uppermost on our minds. We are fully prepared to deliver all of our instruction online, but the unprecedented fluidity of the current moment compels careful consideration before we can issue a final policy for our school. I hope to be in a position to deliver this in the near future.
With my best wishes,
Ayman El-Mohandes, Dean
