Brightspace

Starting in Summer 2025, SPH courses will be taught using the Brightspace platform. We are using this site to keep the SPH community informed about the project and to provide a central repository for Brightspace resources for faculty, staff, and students.

Timeline:

All SPH courses will be taught on Brightspace starting in Summer 2025. CUNY’s overall timeline can be found on the CUNY Brightspace website. A SPH-specific timeline is below. Details will be added as we receive additional information from CUNY.

Fall 2025

All courses are now being taught in Brightspace LMS only
Instructor and staff training and resources are available throughout the semester – for more information, email OLHelp@sph.cuny.edu
Instructors continue to have access to old courses in Blackboard, but Blackboard LMS will become unavailable permanently on December 18, 2025 – after which there will be no access after this date.
4 years worth of course content has been migrated to Brightspace from Blackboard
To download and save any of your content from Blackboard, instructors can follow these steps.

Faculty

- CUNY will be providing a mix of live and on-demand sessions for Brightspace training for faculty
- There is a Getting Started in Brightspace Checklist
- Training sessions will be ongoing throughout the spring 2025 semester; faculty can attend for live support
- On-demand videos are also available for faculty

Students

Logging into Brightspace
