From Clinics to Courtrooms: Reflecting on 40 Years of Advocacy for SRJ

Join the Sexual & Reproductive Justice Hub at CUNY SPH for a compelling conversation between Dr. Machelle Allen, Chief Medical Officer of NYC Health + Hospitals, and Terry McGovern, senior associate dean at CUNY SPH, as they reflect on four decades of collaboration in sexual and reproductive justice advocacy.

Dr. Allen has dedicated her career to providing care for marginalized and underserved patients, particularly women affected by addiction and HIV. Her leadership has shaped healthcare delivery across New York City.

Dean McGovern is a human rights lawyer and is internationally recognized for her work in sexual and reproductive rights, gender justice, and health law.

Together, they have worked at the intersection of medicine and law, advancing policies and practices that uphold reproductive rights and healthcare access. This conversation will explore their shared experiences, challenges, and the evolving landscape of sexual and reproductive justice.

The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Diana Romero, professor of community health and social sciences at CUNY SPH.
