The Symposium, sponsored by a consortium of six Colombian universities, explored ways to use health education to reduce inequalities in cardiovascular diseases, mental health and reproductive and sexual health in Colombia. The event brought together North American public health researchers with faculty and students from the participating universities and regional and national public health officials in Colombia. Freudenberg’s talk, “Health Education for Another World that Is Possible”, proposed new ways that public health professionals, governments and Latin American and global social movements could work together to change the living conditions that contribute to inequalities in health.
