The CUNY SPH Foundation proudly celebrates the five-year anniversary of founding board member Gil Addo, who concluded his dedicated service on the Board of Directors on June 30, 2024.

Gil Addo, the senior vice president of specialty care at CVS Health, has been an instrumental figure in the establishment and growth of the Foundation. He joined the CUNY SPH Foundation Board as the co-founder and CEO of RubiconMD, an eConsult service that connects primary care providers to same-day insights from top specialists. His innovative leadership, unwavering commitment, and insightful contributions have significantly advanced the Foundation’s mission to support CUNY SPH in addressing the public health challenges of our time.

“Gil Addo’s visionary leadership and tireless dedication have been a cornerstone of our success over the past five years,” says CUNY SPH Dean Ayman El-Mohandes. “His contributions have helped us to expand our programs, enhance our capabilities, and deepen our community impact. We are immensely grateful for his service and look forward to building on the strong foundation he helped establish.”

Under Addo’s guidance, the Foundation has launched several key initiatives aimed at improving public health education, research, and community engagement. Notable achievements include the establishment of the school’s Harlem Health Initiative and a subsequent student fellowship in his name. The Gil Addo Harlem Health Fellowship provided two CUNY SPH students with experiential learning opportunities to work within the school’s Harlem Health Initiative under the supervision of Deborah Levine, its program director.

“Gil’s financial support has been pivotal, particularly his contribution to the Harlem Health Initiative,” says Lyndon Haviland, board chairman of the CUNY SPH Foundation. “The formation of the Gil Addo Fellowship is an example for how philanthropy can support public health innovation and equity. We are honored that he is continuing his support of the program in the year ahead.”

As Gil Addo steps down from his role, the Foundation remains committed to its mission and is excited to continue its work with the same passion and dedication that Addo exemplified during his tenure.
