CUNY SPH is thrilled to announce that four CUNY SPH faculty members have advanced a step in their careers this semester.

Ghada Soliman
Professor Ghada Soliman

Dr. Ghada Soliman has been named full professor. Dr. Soliman joined CUNY SPH in 2017 as associate professor and doctoral programs director in the Environmental, Occupational, and Geospatial Health Sciences department. Her public health nutrition research is centered on precision nutrition as an integral part of public health promotion and disease prevention. Her community nutrition research focuses on childhood obesity prevention, school nutrition, adult obesity among individuals, communities and across populations, as well as wellness programs in the workplace. Her wet laboratory research integrates diet, nutrient sensing and metabolism,  and their influence on chronic diseases and public health.

Dr. Levi Waldron
Professor Levi Waldron

Dr. Levi Waldron has been named full professor. Dr. Waldron joined CUNY SPH in 2013 as assistant professor, ascending to associate professor in 2018, in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics department. He founded the Waldron Lab for Public Health Data Science at CUNY SPH which aims to generate new insights into human health, disease and treatment through improved tools and novel analysis of publicly available data. He has an active research program in cancer genomics and in metagenomic profiling of the human microbiome.

Associate Professor Spring Cooper

Dr. Spring Cooper has been tenured. Dr. Cooper joined CUNY SPH in 2015 as associate professor in the Community Health and Social Sciences department. She is a social researcher with academic qualifications in public health, health promotion and sexuality. Her research focuses on health education concerning vaccine preventable diseases, sexual health in adolescents and young adults, harm reduction, health communication and sexual agency, to name only a few.

Sean HaleyDr. Sean Haley has been named associate professor. Dr. Haley joined CUNY SPH in 2010 as assistant professor in the Health Policy and Management department. In his research, he explores implementation and policy factors that influence substance use prevention and treatment. Dr. Haley spent the 2018-2019 academic year on a Fulbright supported research implementation study on alcohol screening and brief intervention in primary care within Rio de Janeiro. As the former Chair of the American Public health Associations Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Section, he currently serves as the Chair of the Alcohol Action Network, a national alcohol prevention forum of state and national alcohol policy leaders and researchers.
