About the Health Coordinator Role

We are seeking dynamic, energetic health coordinators to oversee the implementation of Healthy Harlem programming at one of our high school after-school programs. They will be responsible for leading a team of educators to effectively deliver nutrition lessons, physical activity, and programming for youth and families affected by overweight and obesity. This position reports to the Director at their respective program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage all Healthy Harlem programs, including effective delivery of nutrition education and physical activity programming, parent programming, and behavior modification programming
  • Hire and manage staff implementing Healthy Harlem programs
  • Partner and coordinate with site staff to ensure accurate tracking and evaluation data and case management support of program participants
  • Engage and train site staff in healthy eating/active living practices
  • Attend regular trainings with other Health Coordinators to share best practices
  • Establish and maintain collaborations with relevant community organizations, schools, and parents
  • Support the Site Director with tracking and assessing of healthy eating and active living programs and their progress
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Recreation, Exercise Physiology, or a related field; 
  • the ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in one of these fields and supervisory experience
  • Must be knowledgeable about nutrition, physical fitness, and wellness concepts
  • Familiar with the emotional, social, and mental aspects of a healthy lifestyle, including the safety and overall well-being of individuals engaged in healthy eating/active living programs
  • Experience working with youth and adolescent population

POSITION:  HIV Clinical Care Coordinator (req#51066)

ORGANIZATION: Ryan Health | NENA

Position Reporting to: Darrick Whitley, Director of Prevention & Support Services 

Position Overview: To ensure the delivery of integrated, comprehensive medical services to Ryan-NENA’s HIV/AIDS population, assuring that HIV/AIDS infected individuals receive the highest quality of case-managed care throughout all areas of the Center. Assume administrative responsibility for the collection of data and submission of all required programmatic statistics and reports. Maintain a panel of HIV Primary Care patients.  This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Ryan Network.  

Essential Functions:

  • Provide comprehensive clinical case management services to all HIV positive patients enrolled in Ryan-NENA’s HIV Primary Care Program. Maintain progress notes for clinical case management appropriate to patient’s medical and psychosocial needs. Follow-up on abnormal reports, lab findings, and missed appointments, both at the Center and for off-site specialty referrals.
  • Facilitate clinical services as mutually agreed by the Internist, Pediatrician, and other physicians as outlined in medical protocols, including assisting the physician with an examination of patients, as needed.
  • Coordinate clinical and psychosocial needs of the HIV positive patients, in conjunction with the Medical Provider, Case Manager, and Social Worker, in areas of home care, hospitalization, and discharge.
  • Monitor LPN provision of care to HIV patients, and oversee their activities and duties in conjunction with the Medical Director and appropriate Clinical Unit Coordinator.
  • Visit hospitalized Ryan-NENA patients as needed; maintain an ongoing relationship between Ryan-NENA and the patient to encourage continuity of care.
  • Provide information, at the patient’s request and with informed written consent, to medical providers, family members and significant others regarding the patient’s health status and other special needs.
  • Serve as an advocate for HIV positive patients in all areas of concern in conjunction with the patient’s primary care provider and Mental Health Department.
  • Ensure the Program’s compliance with all HIV confidentiality policies and guidelines, as well as all clinical protocols and policies and procedures related to HIV clinical case management.
  • Ensure the effective coordination of services with the Mental Health Department.
  • Serve as co-facilitator of weekly Case Conference meetings.
  • Maintain a panel of HIV Primary Care patients in accordance with the Protocol and Standards of the Center’s mv Primary Care Program and the AIDS Institute of the State of New York, Department of Health.
  • Collect all pertinent patient data upon intake into the HIV Primary Care Program, collect and maintain current data and health information, and record all information in the patient’s medical record.
  • Collect the necessary data in collaboration with the primary care provider, Clinical Unit Coordinator, and Mental Health practitioners in order to make prospective decisions in the patient’s comprehensive care and treatment plans, e.g., hospital care, hospice care, etc.
  • Assist in the coordination and maintenance of the Center’s HIV confidential computer database. Work with the Database Manager to ensure all appropriate patient data is entered into the database.
  • Provide medical care to adult patients with acute or subacute medical problems. This responsibility includes the recognition of acute symptoms, management of emergencies, detection of abnormal findings on physical assessments, reporting of findings, and clinical decision making.  In collaboration with the supervising physician, provide routine medical treatment based on policies, protocols, and practice agreements appropriate for licensure for treatment of acute medical problems.  Provide appropriate information and education to patients.
  • Provide patient services and back-up coverage for other providers.
  • Facilitate the appropriate transfer of patient information to and from the Center in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Assist in the generation of reports required by funding sources as directed by the Planning Department or the Director of Services, and in the preparation of grant proposals, as needed.
  • Assist in the coordination of HIV in-service education and training efforts in conjunction with the Director of Special Services and the Medical Director.
  • Attend all supervisory and other in-house administrative and medical meetings as assigned; attend meetings related to HIV services, as requested.
  • Facilitate the development and ongoing relationship with other healthcare organizations and institutions providing specialized care to participants of the Center’s HIV Primary Care Program.
  • Under the direction of the Medical Director, coordinate, supervise and participate in chart audits for HIV positive patients for quality purposes, including the tabulation of results and distribution of reports. Participate in the development, implementation, and assessment of plans of connection as needed.
  • Actively participate in the Center’s Coordinating Committee for HIV Services and in the Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Participate in Evening and Saturday administration coverage, and in the administrative beeper rotation, as assigned.
  • Assume responsibility for professional growth and development by participating in professional continuing education, attending in-service seminars and training, reviewing current professional literature, and maintaining membership in professional organizations.
  • Attend all meeting and/or training sessions as required.
  • Immediately report any problems or unusual occurrences to a supervisor.
  • Practice accepted infection control measures in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, and Center policies and procedures.

Minimum Experience and Skills Required:

  • Three (3) years of experience in a clinical setting and two (2) years of administrative experience.

POSITION: Policy and Research Associate

ORGANIZATION: New York Health Foundation (NYHF)   

The Policy and Research Associate reports to the Director of Policy and Research. The Associate provides policy research and insights for the Foundation’s work. This person will work closely and collaboratively with the Policy and Research team and other program, communications, and grants management staff across the organization. 

Duties will include but not be limited to: monitoring key health policy issues in New York State and nationally; performing data and statistical analyses; conducting literature searches and background research; contributing to publications ranging from issue briefs to journal articles; preparing presentations; assisting in the promotion of research conducted by NYHealth; and identifying opportunities to collaborate with program staff.

POSITION: Health Project Manager – Mobile App for Young Black Gay/Bisexual Men Living with HIV 

ORGANIZATION: Sentient Research  

The mHealth Project Manager will assist Sentient Research staff in developing and evaluating an innovative, holistic app and website to support young Black gay/bisexual men living with HIV in all areas of life. This national-level program is being designed to: improve HIV care outcomes by providing a range of content and tools and facilitating support with care providers; improve other areas of physical health, mental health, social support, and overall well-being; and reduce the impact of HIV-related stigma.

Duties will include working in close collaboration with young Black gay/bisexual men and service providers across the country, conducting human-centered design research activities with these audiences, developing engaging content (e.g., facilitating video shoots with young men and experts, writing articles), and assisting with managing the technology aspects of the program.* Most of the program development will occur in the first year of the project, and a small randomized controlled trial will occur in the second year to evaluate program impact. Training in human-centered design will be provided as needed.

 Required Qualifications

  • o Project Management: This position will requires excellent project management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple program elements simultaneously. Successful candidates must have demonstrated experience managing complicated projects (including the ability to meet deadlines, work with teams of internal and external staff, and engage and follow-up with participants, subject matter experts, and consultants)

POSITION: Scientific Project Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: NYC Pandemic Response Institute (PRI) – CUNY SPH Research Foundation

Reporting to the CUNY SPH PRI Chief Technical Officer (CTO), the Scientific Project Coordinator will be joining CUNY SPH at an exciting moment in the school’s history, as it partners with Columbia University in launching the first ever NYC Pandemic Response Institute (PRI).  The NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) selected Columbia University, with CUNY SPH as the key partner, to launch and operate the PRI to help assure that New York City is prepared to meet future health emergencies like COVID-19.  The initial focus of the Scientific Project Coordinator is to provide research support for the programmatic and technical needs of CUNY SPH’s PRI activities.

Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide research support to the Chief Technical Officer and to the CUNY SPH PRI Core and the CUNY SPH Cross-Cutting Teams, as directed by the CTO.
  • Oversee and conduct a range of research and policy-related projects that will address the systems that are involved in and affected by pandemics and other public health crises. These include a range of economic, social, environmental, behavioral, and biological systems. This will include managing these projects from idea conception to study design to study execution to interpreting and analyzing any results/output to writing reports/manuscripts and submitting them for publication. 
  • Oversight of the projects will include organizing, managing, and conducting a range of meetings, presentations, and other gatherings.
  • Help to set up and implement the administrative and organizational structure for these projects/work.
  • Make and give presentations on the project work.
  • Support the establishment and management of strategic collaborations with external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and write proposals to funding agencies.
  • Succinctly and accurately communicate with the CTO and CUNY SPH PRI Team.

POSITION: Program & Operations Manager

The New York City  Pandemic Response Institute (PRI) represents a landmark endeavor operated by ICAP at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in partnership with CUNY School of Public Health and other academic, community, government and corporate partners and supported by the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and other donors and supporters. The vision for PRI is to build sustained, cooperative action to prepare, predict, detect, respond, and recover from major health threats and to reduce the disparities noted in association with the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic in the City of New York. The PRI will address the entire lifecycle of emergency preparedness and response by advancing a dynamic set of activities that increase resilience to the adverse consequences of public health emergencies

Working under the direct supervision and guidance of the Project Director, the Programs & Operations Manager will provide supervision and guidance on operational, logistics and administrative aspects of the PRI and to support the planning and implementation of PRI activities. As a member of the PRI Management team, the manager will provide programmatic and operations leadership to ensure ongoing efforts align with project goals, oversee, and ensure effective implementation and coordination of project activities, and monitor progress of the work of PRI.

Responsibilities:

Project Design, Performance Monitoring and Implementation Support Functions (45%)

  • Provide oversight of and support towards achievement of PRI goals, objectives and activities, including support for PRI technical and cross-cutting groups, development of workplans and monitoring for progress towards specific milestones;
  • In collaboration with Director/Principals, draft agendas for PRI meetings and meetings of its Governing Board and Advisory Council;
  • Tracks, monitors and reports on project status to ensure activities meet technical and programmatic targets;
  • Develops, implements and monitors the implementation of course corrections and adjustments for specific activities;
  • Develops ongoing progress reports to be submitted to funders;
  • Supports outreach to partner organizations and the engagement/establishment of detailed operational work plans;

New Business Development (25%) 

  • Support planning for PRI initiatives, including participation in development planning meetings;
  • Serves as Proposal Manager on individual competitive and non-competitive proposals, responsible for the overall coordination of proposal teams, and on-time development of proposal packages including draft and final narratives, workplans and budgets;
  • Drafts and contributes specific content for proposals, in relation to PRI’s corporate capabilities, prior performance and experiences;
  • Facilitates the generation of proposal content and documentation.

Strategic Planning and Support (25%)

  • Assists the PRI Project Director with strategic management support to PRI leadership by facilitating regular engagements with technical working groups and partner management teams; 
  • Serves as a key liaison between PRI and New York partners and project teams for planning and implementation of projects;
  • Supports the drafting and tracking of business development plans and strategies focused on diverse donors;
  • Supports planning for and managing of cross-cutting donor-related events and other requirements, dissemination events and high-level site visits;
  • Performs reviews of working group-generated programmatic documents, reports and analyses and make modifications as needed prior to submission to PRI Leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, International Affairs, related field or equivalent in education and experience

POSITION: Program Manager

ORGANIZATION:Collective Power for Reproductive Justice (CPRJ)

Collective Power for Reproductive Justice (collectivepowerrj.org) is a national reproductive rights and justice organization dedicated to educating, mentoring, and inspiring new generations of advocates, leaders, and supporters. Combining activism, organizing, leadership training, and reproductive rights movement building, Collective Power promotes an inclusive agenda that advances reproductive rights and health, and social and economic justice. Collective Power is a fiscally sponsored project of TSNE (tsne.org).

The Program Manager (PM) will manage Collective Power for Reproductive Justice’s campus based and national programs under the direction of the Deputy Director of Programs and Policy (DDPP).  The PM will remotely manage CPRJ’s campus programming and our Five College student group, assisting with developing other campus programming and increasing CPRJ’s visibility on college campuses.  The PM is the lead staff member responsible for the development and management of the annual Collective Power conference and directs and oversees conference programming and implementation to ensure the project advances CPRJ’s mission to inspire, educate, and train new reproductive justice activists.  The PM manages programming and logistics for the annual Collective Power conference such as developing the conference program and plans, coordinating workshops and speaker invites, managing logistics and staffing for the event, while managing external collaborations and relationships, program assessment, and the project budget.

 As a member of the Programs Team, the Program Manager will provide input on CPRJ’s programming, including our internship and activist network programs, as well as help organize activist convenings and support other program initiatives and program fundraising as needed, and represent CPRJ with allies and supporters.

  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Social justice experience, including academic and/or lived experience organizing and conducting scholarship around issues of race, class, and gender, and/or student and youth development.

NCHHSTP/DVH is recruiting for an exceptional candidate for the position of Associate Director for Global Health, Division of Viral Hepatitis (DVH), National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention (NCHHSTP).

The mission of the Division of Viral Hepatitis is to bring together science and public health practice to eliminate disease and mortality caused by viral hepatitis. 

This position would serve as the senior medical advisor for a Division of a CIO, providing leadership of global viral hepatitis activities in support of the elimination of viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. This position will lead DVH’s global unit within the Office of the Director (OD) in establishing and coordinating partnerships to advance country-specific viral hepatitis strategic planning, disease surveillance, outbreak detection and response, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment programs. An extensive breadth of viral hepatitis public health and medical program knowledge, managing multiple concurrent projects and programs, and supervisory responsibilities are required for this position.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set divisional global viral hepatitis operational objectives and priorities
  • Collaborate with WHO, international partners, and government agencies to coordinate and advance country-specific viral hepatitis elimination objectives and priories
  • Direct the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of international activities to prevent and control viral hepatitis, including research studies, technical assistance, demonstration projects, and public health programs
  • Represent DVH at high-level international meetings and advise on key viral hepatitis public health decisions
  • Supervise and mentor DVH’s global staff and other public health staff (e.g., medical officers, public health advisors, Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, Public Health Associate Program fellows)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: This position is a dynamic mix of strategic planning, outbreak response, surveillance, program implementation, vaccine outreach, laboratory, communications, health policy, and partner engagement. Highly qualified candidates will have:

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team and interact collaboratively across teams within the division and agency
  • Ability to build partnerships and communicate effectively with state health leaders, national partners, and other governmental agencies
  • Excellent coordination and organizational skills, including the ability to manage and respond to multiple requests and priorities in a timely manner
  • Expertise in scientific public health programs and experience overseeing cooperative agreements and contracts 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

POSITION: Post-do Researcher, Dept. Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH)

ORGANIZATION: Drexel University, Dornsife School of Public Health 

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH), in the Drexel University Dornsife School of Public Health, is recruiting for a post-doctoral researcher to focus on climate-related exposures (e.g., ozone, extreme temperature), children’s health, and community assets/ resilience.  

Applicants should have substantial experience in air pollution epidemiology, familiarity with air pollution exposure science, and experience in GIS. The successful applicant should also have experience in statistical modeling using SAS or R, strong interest in a career in environmental health research, and strong interpersonal and communications skills. 

Essential Functions

  • Design and implement epidemiologic analyses
  • Identify and process GIS-based community data, and regulatory air monitoring data 
  • Draft manuscripts, abstracts
  • Deliver scientific presentations
  • Interact with community advisory and incorporate input into study design

Required Qualifications

This position is supported by both an NIH R01 and EPA STAR collaborative grants, in collaboration with Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, aimed at identifying community assets which may ameliorate impacts of climate-related exposures on child health. The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will work closely with Drs. Jane E. Clougherty (Drexel) and Perry Sheffield (Mt. Sinai), on identification and analysis of community social stressor and asset indicators using geographic information systems (GIS), epidemiologic analysis of large statewide hospital-based datasets (case- crossover analysis), and collaboration and communication of study results to government, clinicians, and community leaders in Upstate New York.
