Congratulations, Dr. David Goldfarb!

May. 18, 2022

On Thursday, May 12, David Goldfarb, a student in the Environmental and Planetary Health Sciences track, successfully defended his dissertation, “Investigation of the association of exposures to fire-related hazards with the pulmonary function of firefighters.” His committee was chaired by Dr. Ilias Kavouras with Drs. Glen Johnson and David Prezant as members.

“I would like to express my sincerest thanks and gratitude to my committee chair, Dr. Ilias Kavouras, for his mentorship since enrolling in the program,” says Dr. Goldfarb. “I feel extraordinarily lucky to have been paired with a faculty member that has matched my fervor for scientific discovery. In addition, my other committee members, Drs. Johnson and Prezant were remarkably helpful in providing feedback for my dissertation which, I believe, allowed the project to be a success. Finally, the other faculty members and my colleagues across all departments are so knowledgeable on a multitude of relevant public health topics and I feel fortunate to have learned so much from them. I look forward to continuing our work evaluating the risk of lung disease and cancer in firefighter populations, immediately.”
