POSITION: Development Assistant

This position will provide the Health Affairs development team with general support for the administration of ongoing tasks and fundraising projects. The Development Assistant works in collaboration with the Senior Development Director, Executive Publisher, Director, Finance & Administration, and other key staff to meet Health Affairs’ annual fiscal goals. The incumbent supports the grant application and reporting processes, and manages the Raiser’s Edge database system, including responsibility for entering all gifts, proposals, and activities.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Submit grant applications and reports via grantmaker online portals; maintain list of usernames and passwords for grantmaker portals.
  • Execute grant-related project surveys for evaluation of project impact, including author surveys.
  • Compile project data for use in grant reports using Google Analytics and other analytic tools.
  • Gather key performance metrics for policy impact and overall grant impact for reporting to funders. 
  • Monitor and maintain the funder reporting schedules and requirements. 
  • Manage and update a wide-range of tracking tools that are used and accessed by multiple members of the staff, including the grants deliverables tracking tool – disperse deliverables to key Health Affairs staff responsible for carrying out grant funded projects.
  • Manage Raiser’s Edge database, including serving as system administrator; enter relevant data into the system, including, detailed notes about meetings, calls, proposals, letters, grants, and emails.
  • Coordinate and edit internal and external communications and presentations for development team in Word, PowerPoint and Excel. 
  • Manage and update library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, tax forms, board/staff diversity lists, etc.
  • Coordinate meetings and conference calls with grantmakers.
  • Join grantmaker calls to take notes; distribute call notes to Health Affairs staff. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
  • Three years of work experience in an administrative capacity, with development office experience preferred.
  • Independent thinker with strong customer service orientation and collaborative work style.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

POSITION: OB Nutrition Counselor (Bilingual English/Spanish)

Position Summary:

As a member of Urban Health Plan’s Nutrition Department and working in close conjunction ith our OB/GYN Management, we are seeking an OB Nutrition Counselor to join our interdisciplinary team. The Nutrition Counselor will conduct initial, third trimester and postpartum assessments on all pregnant women in the OB Dept.  Key Duties:

POSITION: Research Associate

As JPB explores possible avenues of supporting community mental wellness across the US, it is seeking a Research Associate to synthesize current research on social cohesion, help identify academic institutions leading in this field, and identify place-based programs contributing to community mental wellness to complement a slate of potential grantmaking.  The Research Associate will report to JPB’s Senior Fellow for this area.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Program Support

  • Update literature review on social cohesion incorporating scholarship from fields of public health, medicine, social sciences, political science and economics.
  • Identify foundations grantmaking in social cohesion or related areas such as community connectedness or emotional resilience.
    • Provide assistance in scoping projects including: identifying academic institutions with established scholarship in the following areas: social cohesion, social capital, community connectedness, and mental health benefits of outdoor spaces and activity; and identifying organizations successfully activating outdoor spaces to facilitate healing, connectedness and social cohesion for sustainable resilience.
    • Assist with oral and written presentations as needed, including doing background research and PowerPoint development.
  • Collaborate with Environment and Poverty Program staff as needed.

Administrative Support 

  • Schedule in-person, phone, and virtual meetings and send meeting invitations, reserve rooms, and coordinate with other administrative staff as necessary to facilitate meeting logistics.
  • Submit expense reports for Senior Fellow and confirm travel itineraries.
  • Collaborate with Program Associates and Executive Coordinators in the Environment and Poverty Program and other JPB staff on cross-program administrative work as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND BEHAVIORS

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant full-time work experience, with a particular interest in the nonprofit, philanthropic, or public sector in fields related to public health.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred, or other relevant training such as in completing comprehensive literature reviews.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Sound judgment and integrity enjoys work in both a collaborative environment and independently.

The targeted starting salary range for this position is the full-time equivalent of $65,000 – $75,000 based on experience. Responsibilities

This NIH study will test the effectiveness of an intervention designed to promote COVID testing uptake, adoption of COVID control measures, and mutual aid capacity at the household level. The findings from this study will provide an evidence-base to inform current and future public health initiatives related to COVID-19 mitigation in underserved and vulnerable communities.

The Community Health Worker will report to Dr. Guilamo-Ramos. Dr. Guilamo-Ramos directs the Center for Latino Adolescent and Family Health, which seeks to foster the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based interventions designed to promote positive Latino youth development, and examine and address issues such as immigration and their impact on Latino families and communities. CDUHR is an NIH-funded Center that supports transdisciplinary research to prevent and treat HIV, HCV, overdose, and substance use.

The Community Health Worker will have experience with providing culturally and linguistically appropriate community outreach and engagement, as well as talking to parents and/or youth about sensitive health topics (i.e. COVID-19 testing, prevention, and vaccination).

Description of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide linkage and navigation of families to ancillary services when indicated (i.e. social welfare, vocational services)

Dr. Guilamo-Ramos directs CLAFH, which seeks to foster the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based interventions designed to promote positive Latino youth development, and examine and address issues such as immigration and their impact on Latino families and communities.

POSITION: Senior Analytics Data Manager (SQL Server)

ORGANIZATION: Fund for Public Health NYC (FPHNYC)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW (School Based Health Center-Reproductive Health Project) 

The Office of School Health (OSH) is a joint Program of the Department of Education and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene responsible for promoting the health of the 1.3 million school children enrolled in approximately 1,800 public and non-public schools in the New York City. The OSH Adolescent Health Program manages, among other programs, in-school reproductive health programs at the high school level. These programs include 1) School-Based Health Centers, which offer comprehensive primary care services that include mental health and reproductive health as critical components of adolescent health care services; 2) Connecting Adolescents to Comprehensive Healthcare (CATCH) Program which offers in-school pregnancy tests, emergency contraception, hormonal contraception and referrals for reproductive health care by OSH staff in the school medical rooms; 3) Chancellor’s Initiative which is a $80 million project to develop and build over 50 SBHC’s over the course of 3 years; and 4) School Based Mental Health Roadmap training initiative that offers over 60 workshops/trainings per year to over 300 mental health professionals working in NYC public schools and 5) Foster Care Mental Health training project whereby various mental health professional will be trained on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat children and teens affected by trauma. 

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The OSH is the recipient of several grants to develop, implement and evaluate Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention initiatives in the schools. These grant-funded initiatives include offering expanded direct reproductive health services in School-Based Health Centers; and providing technical assistance, training, and monitoring to over 70 high school SBHC’s participating in the Reproductive Health project. The Senior Analytics Manager will work under the direction of the Director of Adolescent Health or her designee at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Office of School Health.  They will work closely with all programmatic staff including the Director of IT for OSH. 

The Senior Analytics Manager will be responsible for developing reporting and analytics to support decision-making, analysis, and interpretation of programmatic data. This work will include, but will not be limited to, developing dynamic and static reporting data using SSRS and other tools; developing stored procedures and scheduling jobs for routine data updates using SSIS; utilizing VBA in Access which links front-end users to the underlying database, maintaining and enhancing the structure and function of the database, maintaining database schema and integrity, creating data views; integrating external and public data sources as appropriate.  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop, implement, and optimize server-based reports and underlying stored procedures; analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements etc.
  • Build and maintain complex ETL jobs and data flow processes using SSIS, SQLServer.
  • Validate, reconcile, ensure accuracy of data throughout data migration and import processes.
  • Create Access Forms heavily utilizing VBA which links Access directly to underlying database in SQLServer.
  • Partner with OSH IT to modify and develop .NET code for SBHC data input application. 
  • Review and interpret ongoing program/funder report requirements. 
  • Participate in planning meetings and development meetings as required with internal business members, and furthermore will interface with clinic users based on program’s discretion on an as needed basis. 
  • Interfacing with development team members for programming instruction, best practices, data structure evaluation and code review. 
  • Providing analytic support for a wide range of grant-funded initiatives. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in quantitative field (computer science, information systems, data science, or related field).
  • 3+ years’ experience working on the backend of relational databases with a focus on database principles, normalization, functions, and complex stored procedures.
  • Extensive experience with ETL processes and building server-based reports.
  • Advanced proficiency and extensive demonstrated professional experience in MS SQL Server (TSQL), SSIS, VBA required.
  • Experience in R or Python a plus. 
  • Experience working with health system data strongly preferred.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

POSITION: Merta Program Manager

ORGANIZATION: The University of Wisconsin-Madison

This position works in collaboration with the principal investigator (PI) and leadership from the Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) to manage IRP Medicaid Evaluation, Research, and Technical Assistance (MERTA) agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and related health policy research projects. POSITION: Assistant Scientist – Public Health Sciences

The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Scientist position to support federal and state-funded research projects focused on firefighter health and safety. The Caban-Martinez Lab is focused on surveillance and the design/evaluation of workplace interventions to improve the health of first responders. The lab has received new funding to conduct surveillance of COVID-19 infection and vaccine effectiveness among firefighters, healthcare workers and frontline/essential workers (https://www.ffccs.org/recover). Dr Alberto Caban-Martinez will be leading efforts for the UM academic partner arm of the RECOVER Cohort study and is seeking a talented assistant scientist to support the research and administrative activities of the RECOVER and other firefighter COVID-19 projects. The principal objective of the position will be to manage the Florida RECOVER cohort research team in the weekly biomonitoring of cohort participants. The incumbent will assist in the management of firefighter health and safety projects, analyzes data, runs reports, manages project resources and presents scientific results. They will be expected to develop and function as an independent scientist under the mentoring of more established scientists in the lab.
