POSITION: Community Convening & Learning Team (CCLT) Project Manager
ORGANIZATION: Pandemic Response Institute (PRI) – CUNY SPH & Columbia University

The Pandemic Response Institute (PRI) is a collaboration between the CUNY SPH and Columbia University, whose mission is to ensure that all New Yorkers are prepared to prevent, respond to, and recover from future health crises, ranging from infectious disease threats to climate-related health emergencies. The PRI Community Convening & Learning Team (CCLT) is recruiting for a Project Manager, whose work will be focused on community engagement activities across NYC, including convenings, data collection and dissemination. 

Specific duties include:

  • Develop and execute outreach strategies across the 5 boroughs, including on-site participation as needed
  • Cultivate a robust pipeline of potential community partners through persistent targeted outreach via phone and email communication 
  • Manage a database of community partners
  • Represent the PRI  Community Convening & Learning Team at targeted virtual and, possibly, on-site meetings, community events and conferences 
  • Maintain accurate records, develop programmatic reports, and related informational content 
  • Collaborate with other PRI teams and cores to implement research and programmatic activities
  • Other tasks as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree  plus relevant experience, preferred would be Masters or currently in a relevant graduate program.

POSITION: Digital Project Manager
ORGANIZATION: Healing Histories Project

We are looking for someone who has experience visualizing content (our data) for an online cultural, educational and/or social justice project. We also need someone who has experience in managing a project that moves this content from and through the copy editing process to visualizing this cultural educational project. A requirement is that the person applying for this position is in alignment with the political and cultural mission of the Healing Histories Project. 

The Healing Histories Project is made up of healers, medical practitioners, organizers, media makers, cultural and memory workers who believe that all deserve care and support during times of crisis, vulnerability & resistance. We come together to inform and shape a vision for collective care and safety while integrating models of wellness that seek to transform and intervene on medical violence, harms, and abuses rooted in racism and capitalism. We are engaging individuals, communities and institutions to remember these abuses and harms by catalyzing research, action and movement-building strategies. We do this through the creation of popular education tools, workshop curriculum, cultural and political events and more. 

We are a multiracial intergenerational and multi-ability team that centers Black, Indigenous, people of color, people with disabilities and others targeted by eugenecist strategies in our work.

The Healing Histories Project works in solidarity with many health and healing practitioners/workers by holding with dignity and respect the lives and communities they care for and by disrupting abuses of the state.  The release of this COVID-19 Timeline is our first offering. In addition to the COVID timeline, HHP has  been working for 11 years on compiling data related to 500+ years of the Medical Industrial Complex*. This data currently exists in an excel spreadsheet.

This is a six month contract: March 15, 2022 through September 15th, 2022 with the option to extend based on the work.

Timeline content finalization:

  • Develop strategy and workplan to ready the research, content and data for timeline publication by September 1, 2022.
  • Either provide copy-editing and/or content-editing skills or be able to identify, contract and supervise copy and content editors. 
  • Create and implement content cleaning and quality assurance process for a small team of students and/or paid staff
  • Create a bibliography of sources cited to be published with the timeline.
  • Support the team in vetting online platforms to hold this content data in a searchable timeline. 
  • Work with the Comms consultant on content finalization with the design and readiness of the digital platform. 
  • Problem-solve content or data issues as they arise. 

Work Culture

  • Ability to work independently and follow deadlines as part of a team.

POSITION: Assistant Director, Training Strategy and Implementation
ORGANIZATION: NYC Health + Hospitals

Under the direction of a Senior Director, the Assistant Director of Training organizes and leads system-wide training efforts for staff of the NYC Public Health Corps – including community health workers (CHW), CHW supervisors, and facility-based program management staff.

General tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual training plan for Public Health Corps CHWs and CHW supervisors across multiple clinical settings
  • Develop strategy for ongoing reinforcement of trainings including through local 1:1 and small group coaching

Minimum Qualifications

  1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Public Health, Psychology, Personnel Administration, Management, Public Administration or related approved discipline; and,
  2. Six years of progressively responsible experience in planning and manpower development and training programs, medical or public health administration or other fields related to training, development and manpower analysis, of which at least two years shall have been in a supervisory, managerial or administrative capacity related to the organization, formulation, development and implementation of such plans and programs; or,
  3. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Management, Social Work, Medical Administration, Psychology, Personnel Administration, Public Administration or a related approved field with five years of experience as described in (2) and two years in a supervisory, managerial or administrative capacity;
  4. Extensive knowledge of the principles of training and manpower development programs and the ability to analyze and determine the needs of the Corporation, Network or facility; or,
  5. A satisfactory combination of training, education and experience indicating the ability to perform satisfactorily.

POSITION: Vulnerable Populations Outreach Coordinator (VPOC)
ORGANIZATION: Montgomery Township Health Department (New Jersey)

Candidate will be expected to demonstrate a high level of professionalism, treating everyone with honesty, fairness, sensitivity and empathy. 

This position is full-time from January 2022 – June 30, 2023 (with the expectation of renewal to June 30, 2023) and is supported through a two-year grant awarded by the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH). The jurisdictional local Health Department will provide direct supervision of this position. Hours are 35 hours a week with 5-hour float; possible weekend hours.  Position will be a combination of in-person and remote work.  Work location and full-time work hours may be flexible, as determined by local Health Department.

The VPOC will increase local public health capacity to investigate, trace, contain, mitigate and prevent COVID-19 through targeted outreach to vulnerable populations. VPOC will work to ensure at-risk residents in their communities have access to support services such as housing, insurance coverage, and unemployment compensation to allow them to isolate or quarantine effectively. VPOC will conduct an assessment of vulnerable populations in their jurisdiction and develop a strategic plan to test, contact trace, contain, mitigate and prevent COVID-19 in these populations. The VPOC will work with the local Health Department leadership and governing body to oversee implementation of the strategic plan to ensure timely testing, contact tracing and containment of COVID-19.

Job Duties / Responsibilities: (from Public Health Practice Standards)

  • Conduct a vulnerable population assessment to identify and describe at-risk populations in the grantee’s community, such as high-risk healthcare facilities (e.g., hospitals, dialysis clinics, cancer clinics, nursing homes, and other long-term care facilities); congregate living settings (e.g., prisons, youth homes, shelters); employment settings (e.g., seasonal/migrant farm workers, meat processing facilities, food service workers); colleges, university and boarding school settings; undocumented persons; and other high risk persons.
  • Present the assessment to the local Health Department and governing body and oversee development of a plan addressing mandatory steps in outreach/messaging to vulnerable populations, partnerships with key stakeholders, testing, case investigation, contact tracing, containment, quarantine facilities, support services and long-term prevention for COVID-19 and other communicable diseases, both routine and emergent, in these vulnerable populations.
  • Work with local Health Department staff and County LINCS agency, and in alignment with State testing and containment strategies, to prioritize COVID-19 response initiatives targeted to vulnerable populations, including testing, contact tracing, isolation and quarantine, and social supports.
  • Identify gaps in needs amongst COVID-19-positive and COVID-19-exposed persons, especially those in vulnerable populations and search for local solutions. This could include, but is not limited to, food banks, mental health services, visiting nurses, telehealth solutions, and other community programs that can address the needs of COVID-19-positive and COVID-19-exposed persons.
  • Develop and maintain a list of available resources to assist COVID-19-positive and COVID-19-exposed persons within local Health Department jurisdiction and communicate this list and updates to County LINCS agency.
  • Ensure appropriate linkages to social supports are made, such as referrals to LINCS Social Support Coordinators and/or 211 supports.
  • Regularly monitor COVID-19-related data received through testing, outbreak investigations and contact tracing within local Health Department jurisdiction and utilize to reprioritize outreach to existing and newly affected vulnerable populations.
  • When needed, utilize standard operating procedure (SOP) developed by LINCS agency for use for persons in need of isolation or quarantine services.
  • VPOC will also work with other local Health Department VPOCs in the county/region to identify collaborative opportunities, align strategies, maximize resources, and reinforce priorities to ensure consistent and complete coverage to vulnerable populations across the state.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and equity-centered public health professional to lead the development and continuous improvement of health equity initiatives at DPH, with the goal of embedding health equity practices into everyday work. POSITION: Air Pollution Exposure Scientist

California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), part of the California EPA, is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to work on biomonitoring projects in communities heavily burdened by air pollution and other stressors, such as health inequities, high unemployment, and linguistic isolation. Duties will include analyzing air pollution data, conducting exposure studies in selected communities, and evaluating how best to reduce exposures to air pollutants (salary: $88,032 – $109,512 annually).

Job Requirements:

Experience in air pollution exposure science and environmental health sciences that meets the following specific requirements:

o Two years of experience as an Environmental Scientist in California civil service OR

o Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience as an environmental scientist. A Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field can substitute for one year of experience, and a PhD can substitute for two years of experience. Description: We seek a dynamic new faculty member for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate professor position. We encourage applicants from backgrounds historically under-represented in the health sciences and whose research and teaching interests center the health of communities/populations and is consistent with our division’s focus on health equity and social justice. Priority areas include, but are not limited to: the health of minoritized populations, the determinants of and innovative solution for health inequities, and the use of community-partnered research approaches. Qualifications: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in either public health, community or population health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, public policy, or a related social science. Scholarly productivity and a history of (or potential for) obtaining external funding appropriate for the desired faculty rank must be evident. We also are looking for applicants with experience and enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring graduate students and who are willing to contribute to the growth and success of the division through service activities. POSITION: Assistant, Associate or Full Professor
ORGANIZATION: Tufts University

The Master of Public Health Program (MPH) invites applications for full-time, 12-month positions in Public Health beginning July 1, 2022. We are interested in candidates with 5 or more years of experience conducting epidemiologic research in academia, community, government, or consulting settings.

Our MPH program is rapidly growing, offering both on-campus and on-line graduate study. We welcome candidates from diverse cultures and academic backgrounds, including but not limited to social epidemiology, environmental epidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology, or clinical epidemiology. The program recently completed a curricular revamping of our core public health classes to demonstrate a keen and explicit focus on health equity, eliminating inequities, and acknowledging the role of racism in exacerbating health disparities in communities of color.

The initial appointment term in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine will be for three years with the expectation of renewal, contingent upon annual performance review results. As a clinical department of the School of Medicine, the Department does not offer tenure. Faculty will engage in teaching, research, and service, making contributions to the scholarship and service missions of the department and school. Our program focus is on training master’s level students for applied work. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to devote at least half of their time to teaching.

Qualifications
Requirements: Doctoral degree in epidemiology or a public health-related field and 5+ years of experience in a public health-related field. The successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to research, teaching, and service. Associate and Full Professor level candidates should have a proven track record of scholarship. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to devote at least half of their time to teaching, on-campus and on-line.

The UAMS Winthrop P. POSITION: Economist

This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP), Division of Research and Evaluation (R&E), Washington, D.C. ODEP supports R&E by developing policies and practices that increase the number and quality of employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Duties:

  • Identifies and defines key economic issues; recommends pertinent research topics; develops study objectives, hypotheses, and research methodology; determines primary and secondary data sources to be explored; analyzes and interprets data; and prepares detailed reports and analyses.
  • Initiates and maintains professional contacts for a mutual exchange of information and to assure productive cooperation within the Government, and between government and the private sector.
  • Independently plans, leads, and executes complex research and evaluation projects of major significance related to disability employment and responds to research priorities.
  • Develops, conducts and coordinates work with respect to contracted research and evaluation. Participates and leads in discussions of technical or substantive aspects of the work with actual and potential contractors.
  • Utilizes appropriate economic research and statistical techniques to identify ways to improve disability employment outcomes.
  • Provides advice and guidance to the ODEP’s senior staff who includes the Director of Research and Evaluation and ODEP’s Deputy Assistant Secretary and Assistant Secretary, on the status and outcomes of research activities, the methodologies employed, new developments and trends, and the impact of policy and program changes on informational activities.
  • Prepares short and longer term policy analyses and evaluations on the efficacy of existing and potential programs in terms of cost effectiveness’ and other variables, and synthesizes technical analyses performed outside of the Government to inform policy formulation.

Qualifications:

1 Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.

OR

2 Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


Evaluation of Experience
Examples of qualifying experience include:

  • individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation;
  • supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information; or
  • teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.
  • In addition to the (IOR) Individual Occupational Requirement list above, you must also meet the Specialized Experiences below:
  • GS-14: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-13, in the Federal Service.

Specialized Experience Includes All of the following statements:

  • Experience managing projects for developing databases and complex models for economic analyses to evaluate emerging trends in workforce in general and disability employment specifically;
  • Experience combining large sets of data from various sources to assess trends and patterns in labor markets, industry sectors and examine labor economic issues to evaluate impact on disability employment;
  • Experience in data analytics software such as SAS, Stata, R or similar.
