POSITION TITLE: Community Covid Impact Study Epidemiologist
ORGANIZATION: Massachusetts Department of Health (DPH)
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Bureau of Community Health and Prevention and Office of Statistics and Evaluation (OSE) is seeking a senior epidemiologist to support pandemic and vaccine related health equity data efforts including the COVID-19 Community Impact Survey (CCIS). The CCIS survey was conducted to better understand the immediate and long-term health needs, including social and economic consequences facing the Commonwealth due to the pandemic. The epidemiologist will lead a team of epidemiologists and research analysts to analyze, interpret, and report on existing CCIS and related vaccine data along with other annual health equity related data collection. This data will help inform and prioritize resource deployment and policy actions.
The candidate will also be expected to lead with health equity by incorporating a racial justice lens in all duties and responsibilities to support programs, the division, and the bureau. This includes understanding root causes of health inequities, particularly the role of structural racism and other systemic drivers of health, and incorporating a racial equity lens in data collection, analyses, evaluation, and dissemination materials.

Transitions Clinic Network (TCN) is a nonprofit that supports a national network of clinics providing care for individuals with chronic health conditions recently released from incarceration. Founded on the idea that the people closest to the problem are also closest to the solution, each clinic that adopts the TCN program employs at least one community health worker (CHW) with a history of incarceration as part of a primary care team. Developed in San Francisco in 2006, TCN has supported sites in 14 states and Puerto Rico in implementing the TCN program. In California, they have developed a Reentry Healthcare Hub that links people leaving incarceration to community health systems across the state, including the 21 clinics that have implemented TCN programs.
The Director of Communications and Public Affairs will develop and lead all communications, media relations and publicity activities across TCN and our partners at Yale’s SEICHE Center for Health and Justice. They will work with TCN and SEICHE staff to identify communications objectives and develop a comprehensive strategy, a suite of communications tactics, and materials for TCN and SEICHE to ensure that the organizations’ voice and impact is amplified. They will also advise project teams and staff on all communications-related activities. POSITION TITLE: The Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy (Tisch Food Center) at Columbia University’s Teachers College
ORGANIZATION: Tisch Food Center Executive Director/Associate Research Professor
The Laurie M. Tisch Center for Food, Education & Policy (Tisch Food Center), housed in the Program in Nutrition here at TC, is seeking an Executive Director to direct nutrition research and policy advocacy, and supervise all staff. The Executive Director will also have an appointment as a Research Faculty in the Program in Nutrition, with rank at the Assistant, Associate, or Full depending on the experience of the applicant. This non-tenured faculty appointment has a teaching load of one course per academic year, as well as responsibilities to supervise master students as part of experiential learning in food and nutrition policy and to advise doctoral students on their dissertation research.

POSITION TITLE: Program Officer, Nutrition
ORGANIZATION: Vital Strategies
The Program Officer, Nutrition will support implementation of the Resolve to Save Lives Cardiovascular Health (CVH) initiative, with a focus on nutrition policy, surveillance and reducing sodium consumption as well as supporting the LINKS program. The LINKS program is an on-line platform for resource sharing, networking and dissemination, grantmaking and implementation of high impact strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease through hypertension control, sodium reduction, and the elimination of artificial trans fat. This role will focus on providing support to our portfolio of projects aimed to reduce salt intake worldwide, including front of pack labeling, marketing restrictions for unhealthy foods, setting of salt targets for packaged food, healthy public food procurement, and promotion of low sodium salts.

POSITION TITLE: Test and Trace Canvassers
ORGANIZATION: NYC Test and Trace Corps
NYC Test and Trace Corps is a public health initiative started to help combat COVID-19. Our canvassers distribute PPE and help educate the community on COVID testing options, COVID vaccinations, various preventative measures, and techniques, as well as the risks of COVID-19 itself.
We are currently looking to hire new canvassers to help in this initiative. Through this position, canvassers will acquire real-life work experience in the field of public health outreach. Additionally, those who excel will have the opportunity for higher employment in leadership positions. Canvassers will:
- Knock door-to-door, street canvass, and support vaccination sites as needed.
- Visit local businesses, informing them of new city policies and recording information.
- Work individually and in teams to attain singular and group goals
- Meet reporting requirements and accountability guidelines
Qualifications:
The following experience and qualifications will lead to success:
- Previous paid canvassing experience
- Telemarketing or retail marketing experience
- Social service or organizing experience
- Speakers of a second language (Mandarin, Spanish, Yiddish, Russian, Punjabi, Bangla, and Creole) are strongly encouraged to apply
Requirements:
Canvassers must be able to:
- Speak at least English (additional languages are a plus)
- Use a phone to track and submit data
- Perform data entry and reporting functions
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Work outdoors, on foot, walking, for up to six hours a day, a minimum of 4 shifts per week
Canvassers will work six-hour shifts, with a four-day-a-week commitment. Shifts are available seven days a week. The starting rate of this position is $20/hr or $120 per day.
