Job Description:
The Physical Therapist Assistant provides treatment and manual techniques under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. The PTA is expected to manage a full caseload and complete all documentation required for patient care.
Essential Functions:

- Manages and delegates to support staff as needed for patient care

Background
There is a startling rise in suicidal behavior among Black and Latinx teenagers in New York State. RFMH is seeking to implement suicide prevention interventions for Black and Latinx teenagers in a vocational-readiness program in Harlem and predominantly Black churches throughout New York State.
RFMH is looking for a team member who with strong research and clinical experiences to lead culturally tailored programs to reduce suicidal behavioral among Black and Latinx teens. The candidate must have strong customer service orientation, attention to detail, and demonstrated experience in strategic planning, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. The candidate must also have strong research and analytical skills and the ability to compile, analyze information and develop action steps to further the prevention agenda. This candidate should have demonstrated experience in multiagency collaboration, with a particular focus on working with African American churches. Additionally, strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
The candidate must also have experience providing direct clinical care (e.g., psychotherapy) to teenagers in 9th – 12th grades as well as to adults.

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Prevention Specialist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI) in New York, New York.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
- Work with Black and Latinx teens and their families from varying socio-economic backgrounds
- Collaborate with the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH)
- Have experience or knowledge of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR)
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Be proficient in NVivo or similar Qualitative Data Analysis Program
- Have strong leadership skills and ability to recruit and supervise research volunteers
- Submit receipts and consultation pay order forms for subjects’ participation
- Utilize Qualtrics or other web-based survey platforms to administer research surveys
- Attend church and other community meetings
- Assist with subject recruitment, subject payment, data entry and analysis, and manuscript preparation
- Draft revisions and annual continuation process for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions
- Submit annual progress reports
- Lead the development / refinement of community mental health referral guides
- Provide short-term (i.e., 4 to 6 sessions) of supportive psychotherapy
- Be familiar with administering suicide assessments
- Administer clinical assessments (e.g., depression, trauma)
Minimum Requirements:
- Clinical and research personal experience working with teens and adults with DSM-5 mental disorders
- Must have completed a bachelor’s degree at an accredited U.S. college or university
