Sachs Policy Group Overview Sachs Policy Group (SPG) is a health care policy and strategy consulting firm based in New York City. Our clients include major health systems, academic medical centers, health plans, nursing homes, home care providers, behavioral health providers, disability agencies, foster care agencies, and unions. Graduate Internship
SPG is seeking graduate-level interns for both the summer and fall semester to assist in policy analysis, project management, and research assistance in support of SPG’s clients’ needs.
The interns will work with clients where project needs occur, with consideration of the intern’s prior experience and interests. Projects will be dictated by client priorities and may vary from week to week. The internship will be a part-time position (full-time for a summer internship) and will include a bi-weekly stipend, with the possibility to become a full-time position when the internship is over.
Responsibilities
- Drafting policy briefs, proposals, and presentations;
- Developing and updating project plans;
- Preparing agendas and distributing meeting minutes;
- Engaging with the client on open items and deliverables; and
- Tracking issues related to various initiatives.
Requirements
Applicant should be a first- or second-year MPH or MHA candidate with:
- Strong writing and interpersonal skills;
- High-level proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite;
- Previous health care experience; and
- Strong interest and background in one or more of the example client areas of health care listed above.
- Ability to perform fiscal analysis is preferred, but not required.

POSITION: Summer 2021 Communications/Advocacy Intern
ORGANIZATION: HIP (Human Impact Partners)
Human Impact Partners seeks a communications/advocacy intern for the summer of 2021 to support our communications, advocacy campaigns, and digital content strategy.
Start date: Summer 2021 (flexible start and end dates to align with summer availability)
Time commitment: Full-time, for approximately 3 months
Hourly rate: $18-$22/hour DOE
Location: Remote. HIP is based in Oakland, CA, but staff are working remotely due to COVID-19. Candidates based outside the Bay Area who are able to work remotely are welcome to apply.

About the Position
The Communications/Advocacy intern will report to HIP’s Communications Director, working with them and with other HIP staff leading advocacy and organizing projects. Tasks and projects may include:
- Conducting online research to scan public discourse in social media platforms related to active research and advocacy campaigns HIP is working on. HumanImpact.org | Twitter: @HumanImpact_HIP | Facebook: @HumanImpactPartners
- Supporting Public Health Awakened’s local, state, and federal advocacy campaigns with research, writing, social media, outreach, and coordination.
- Writing social media content for Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn platforms to participate in public discourse on active research and advocacy campaigns.
- Writing copy and building emails in Mailchimp for email campaigns.
- Supporting website content maintenance across HIP’s 3 main websites (Human Impact Partners, Health Equity Guide, and Public Health Awakened)
- Coordinating editorial schedule for HIP’s Medium blog, including coordinating editorial review, searching for header images, and building blog posts in Medium.

Skills and experience
- Working towards a degree in sociology, communication science, public health, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Strong writing, advocacy, social media, and organizational skills
- A deep interest in digital or media literacy, digital organizing, narrative change, and/or public interest communications
- Understanding of racial justice, health equity, and social determinants of health
- Experience using digital organizing tools and social media platforms (especially Facebook and Twitter)
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and in writing; ability to communicate effectively about issues related to racial justice
- Some graphic design experience; experience working with Canva and/or Adobe
- Experience with advocacy, organizing, or digital campaigns to advance social justice and health equity
- Experience crafting and executing social media promotions plans

POSITION: Part-time research fellow
ORGANIZATION: Elektra Health
Elektra Health, is a startup that helps women navigate the menopause transition with access to evidence-based virtual care, education, and community. We’re working with a professor of OB/GYN at NYU who’s also a past president of the North American Menopause Society on a grant application due April 5, so timing is of the essence!
Please find the full post here. It’s a part-time fellowship. Ideally, satisfies course credit but a stipend is possible depending on circumstances. The most important criteria for candidates include:
- Current MD, PhD, MPH, Postdoc, or MBA student
- Demonstrated passion for social, public health and/or women’s health issues
- Be an effective project manager and excellent communicator
- Ability to seek out opportunities for grants / award funding and rapidly craft a high-fidelity application package
- Have prior experience assembling grant or fellowship proposals, ideally NIH SBIRs (successfully funded applications are a plus!)
- Have prior experience working with human subjects in a research setting
- Dedicate 10-15 hours a week starting ASAP

POSITION: Eight-week summer training program
ORGANIZATION: UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine
The UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine announces the launch of an eight-week summer training program focused on Integrative Health Equity and Applied Research (IHEAR) for interprofessional, predoctoral health professions students. The goal of the NIH-funded IHEAR training program is to build the capacity and diversity of the integrative medicine research workforce to advance health equity.
Integrative health equity is an emerging field focused on applying integrative approaches to improving health among underserved and vulnerable populations and testing models to improve access to integrative medicine in inadequately resourced settings.
Public health doctoral students, health professions students (including acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, chiropractic), health-focused social scientists are all welcome to apply. Applications are due 3/1.
