POSITION: Postdoctoral Fellow

Description
The Center for Value-based Care Research (CVCR) at Cleveland Clinic is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to support an AHRQ-funded research project. The Center has 8 full-time investigators, including MDs and PhDs, and strong institutional support with the goal of improving population health and reducing costs through practice redesign, information technology, and evidence-based, patient-centered care. The successful fellow will have the opportunity to receive comprehensive training and a unique research experience in health economic evaluation and decision modeling from our multidisciplinary faculty. The fellow is encouraged to develop his/her own research ideas and career development grant application during the fellowship with support from the Cleveland Clinic and CVCR faculty. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct literature review and meta-analysis
- Design and develop microsimulation models to conduct cost-effectiveness analysis
- Program using disease modeling software
- Lead analysis of economic and resource utilization data
- Perform biostatistical and/or econometric analyses
- Draft reports, abstracts and manuscripts
By the start of the fellowship, the candidate should have a doctoral degree in economics, health economics, decision science, epidemiology, public health or a related field. Experience in health decision science, biostatistics, simulation modeling, or large databases analysis is desirable. Working knowledge with statistical software (Stata, SAS or R) and disease modelling software (TreeAge, AnyLogic, etc.) is required.

Program Description:
As part of New York City’s efforts to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, PHS has partnered with trusted community-based organizations in Queens who will be responsible for distributing educational materials, personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and hand sanitizer, and providing in-person and virtual individual and group health education to thousands of community members over the next four months (August through November 2020) as part of the city-wide Test and Trace (T2) efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19. Efforts in the Jamaica, Queens area as part of COVID-Free Queens! will be coordinated in partnership with the Queens Healthy Start Community Action Network (CAN). The CAN represents consumers and community-based agencies in Jamaica that unite to collectively apply their resources to the implementation of one or more commons strategies to achieve a common goal and an overarching goal to improve perinatal outcomes in the community. The CAN’s strong community organization and stakeholder partnerships and deep understanding of the Jamaica area will be leveraged for this outreach and engagement initiative.
Position Summary:
PHS is seeking a part-time Community Action Network (CAN) Associate to conduct direct community outreach and engagement as part of the Test and Trace efforts. Under the supervision of the CAN Coordinator, the CAN Associate will work closely with other PHS staff including the COVID-Free Queens! Project Manager, the Healthcare Community Partnerships unit, and community-based partners and community members throughout the entirety of this project implementation. This project is grant funded with an anticipated end date of 11/25/20. The CAN Associate will work up to 14 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Distribute promotional materials (flyers, posters, palmcards) at local businesses, community members on the street, local organizations and institutions
- Identify appropriate areas in the community to conduct outreach and identify areas that may need to be prioritized based on word of mouth and/or observations on-the-ground
- Engage community members, either at an event, at a local site, or on the street to inform them about ways to prevent the spread of COVID-19
- Attend trainings set up by the COVID-Free Queens! Coalition to improve understanding of and knowledge around current information and messaging on COVID-19 to inform the public.
- Listen to concerns and questions from the public related to COVID-19 and answer questions in order to stop the spread of misinformation, lessen fears, and ultimately support the community in preventing further spread during the pandemic.

- Must be willing to be outside for up to 3 hours or more at a time, walking and engaging the public.

The Stress Measurement Network at the University of California, San Francisco seeks a postdoctoral scholar to contribute to ongoing research in stress science. The Stress Network is seeking a postdoc with interests in stress science or well-being, especially in the following areas: racism and race-related stress, environmental exposures, pandemic-related stress, climate-change distress, eudaimonic well-being, and well-being interventions. There will also be opportunities to work on a large-scale app-based study that captures ecological momentary assessments of stress, and daily experiences of emotions, health behaviors, and physiologic parameters. The postdoctoral scholar will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects focused on stress and well-being and develop an independent line of research as a strong foundation for an independent research career.
We are seeking applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups who are interested in submitting a diversity supplement linked with the Stress Network Measurement R24, with strong mentorship from the Stress Network leadership.

POSITION: Spring 2021 Intern Position
ORGANIZATION: New York State Senator Brian Kavanagh
With Democrats holding large majorities in both houses of the legislature, Senator Kavanagh and his colleagues are advancing sweeping progressive change through legislation, policy advocacy, and effective representation of our diverse communities. Senator Kavanagh chairs the Senate Housing Committee and looks to advance an ambitious housing and homelessness agenda in 2020 and 2021, building on the nation-leading tenant protection laws enacted in 2019. Additional priorities include responses to the COVID-19 crisis, gun violence prevention, environmental protection and climate change, election and campaign finance reform, economic and social justice, and privacy and consumer rights–as well as the many community issues we tackle on behalf of residents of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
We seek Interns for Spring 2021. This internship is based in New York City but work may be performed remotely, and other accommodations may be made, to ensure safety until COVID-19 pandemic restrictions are lifted. The internship is unpaid, though we will support steps to obtain academic credit or any funding that may be available from an external source. The internship will run from January-May, with flexible start and end dates. Interns report to our Special Projects Coordinator, with additional supervision from our Chief of Staff.
Interns will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of functions in our office, including:
- Researching legislative, policy, and local issues,
- Drafting correspondence, briefings, presentations, newsletters, and other materials, and
- Developing relationships with communities, and planning and executing events.
Interns will have the opportunity to attend hearings and meetings, join staff and community groups in planning and strategy conversations, and touch a range of projects. Interns with experience in government and community building, in or out of government, as well as good
communication skills and judgement, preferred. Hours are flexible and can be part-time.
