POSITION: Residential Case Manager

ORGANIZATION: GLITS Inc

Description:

We are looking for a Residential Case Manager to join GLITS (Gays and Lesbians Living in a Transgender Society) and become a part of our work to end the health and rights crisis faced by transgender sex workers though a care practice rooted in harm reduction, human rights principles, economic and social justice, alongs with a commitment to empowerment and pride in finding solutions from our own community. This position is currently a contract position without benefits with the possibility of becoming a salaried employee with full benefits.

This position would start within the Rikers Relief Program – a Manhattan located transitional housing program for LGBTQ people who were recently released from incarceration during the covid-19 pandemic.   This program will be closing over the next year, and afterwards the position would transition into becoming the embedded case manager in a long term LGBTQ housing program for adults in Queens.

The Residential Case Manager would be responsible for providing individualized support to program participants on a regular basis, conducting intakes and assessments, treatment planning, assisting clients with entitlements and applications, making referrals, supply and financial assistance dispersals, and monitoring of health and well-being.  Other activities will include crisis intervention, recording documentation, program evaluation and creating and maintaining case longs.

Duties include:

  1. Provide client centered care and developing comprehensive exit strategies with current residents at the Rikers Relief Program and within the newly established LGBTQ long term housing program.
    1. Collaborate with clients to coordinate treatment plans, engage them in programs, provide entitlement counseling, assistance with applications and referrals to outside services.
    2. Work with Rikers Relief participants to develop program exiting plans and next steps including referrals to community resources for housing or treatment to assist in recovery, following through to ensure service efficacy.
    3. Understand and explain complex documents and information, translating and explaining information meaning and use.
    4. Resolve conflicts, handle complaints, negotiate with others to settle disputes, resolve grievances in clear coordination with executive leadership.
    5. Coach and develop leadership skills by accurately identifying needs and helping others through mentoring, consultation, advice, and guidance to improve knowledge and skills encouraging mutual trust, respect and understanding.
    6. Supervise behaviors in facility to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and best practices. Assist clients in adhering to treatment plans, such as setting up appointments, arranging for transportation to appointments, or providing support.
    7. Provide in-home support by coordinating with residents for resource distribution and financial management  Distribute living stipends as available on an ongoing basis. Provide counseling to support healthy financial habits and to address issues that arise around resource access.
  2. Maintain all records in compliance with best practices and client security. Produce documentation of the program for internal evaluation.
    1. Document and record information, responsible for storing confidential information in secure digital folders.
    2. Obtain necessary information from clients to monitor and evaluate progress toward goals.
    3. Supervise and direct volunteers who provide services to clients or patients.
    4. Analyze data collected and use it to evaluate information to determine compliance with standards, communicate with management to make appropriate changes if necessary.
  3. Communicate clearly with supervisors providing complete information at the start and end of every shift about progress and updates.
    1. Organize plans and prioritize specific goals to accomplish the work, communicate these with management.
    2. Use computer systems to set up functions, enter data, and process information.
    3. Schedule work and activities on a digital calendar that is shared with supervisors and colleagues for transparent coordination.
    4. Perform day-to-day administrative tasks including maintaining information files, processing paperwork, compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating and verifying information.
    5. Communicate with people outside the organization as necessary for establishing client next steps in a manner that represents the organization in a professional manner.

Requirements: 

  • Minimum requirement of 5+ years of related experience.
  • Extensive experience with and knowledge of TGNC communities and issues, including cultural awareness and ability to work with sex workers, LGBTQ people, drug users, formerly incarcerated individuals, people living with HIV/AIDS, mental and physical disabilities, and immigrants
  • Prior experience working with recently incarcerated individuals highly preferred.
  • Driver’s license and/or access to consistent and reliable transportation.
  • Communication skills in active listening, critical thinking, reading comprehension, clear communication and comprehension, ability to understand complex information and convey it clearly and effectively.
  • A trauma informed and harm reduction based understanding to approaching care provision, crisis response and conflict de-escalation.
  • Previous experience in maintaining clear records and producing written documentation.
  • Demonstrated capacity in enrolling people in government programs.   Ability to learn quickly in a new environment and implement  complex problem solving skills, with a high level of organization and attention to detail and time management.
  • Interviewing and counseling skills. High level of capacity in compassionate interpersonal engagement while maintaining  professional boundaries, commitment to client centered care, and confident in decision making, navigating stages of change and creating  treatment plans.

Position Summary:

EcoHealth Alliance seeks a dynamic and energetic individual to join our team as a Program Assistant. The Program Assistant position helps to ensure the smooth planning and execution of EcoHealth Alliance’s research agenda on health and policy. This role will be primarily administrative, but will involve some research and implementation support activities for One Health projects in Jordan, Liberia, and additional countries in Africa. While this position requires presence in EcoHealth Alliance’s New York office, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this position will initially be remote. Primary Responsibilities: 

The Program Assistant will provide all necessary support to our Executive Vice President, Program Coordinator, and Research Scientists in the Health and Policy team, as well as to our field staff.

  • Assist with the coordination and management of travel, finance/budgets, meetings, programs, reporting, and all other administrative responsibilities as required.
  • Work closely with the Health and Policy team to support related programs especially in the setup of meetings, booking of travel, organizing of paperwork and filing, and monitoring of communications, contracts, and other project related details.
  • File coded credit card reports, time sheets, and other reports.
  • Provide support to program staff and project partners with writing and editing of subcontracts and follow-up with invoicing, payments, receipts, and accounting reports.

POSITION: Research Scientist

Position Summary:

EcoHealth Alliance is seeking a research scientist to work as part of our modeling team, assisting on quantitative and spatial analyses related to zoonotic disease ecology, biodiversity and health, and conservation biology. This New York-based position is ideal for a recent MSc or MPH graduate with a passion for examining the links between biodiversity and health (especially emerging zoonoses), and with strong writing and analytical skills.

Responsibilities include spatial analysis of the interactions between biodiversity, zoonotic and other pathogen dynamics, and anthropogenic changes such as land use change and biodiversity loss; assisting with the collection, cleaning, and analyses of data; drafting manuscripts, grants, and reports; preparing presentations, info-graphics, posters, and other documents; managing collaboration among scientists at EcoHealth Alliance and globally; and providing administrative support.

Job Description::

Aikili Biosystems is a life sciences company spun out of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, headquartered in Boston. We are a fast-growing startup developing a next-generation diagnostic profiling platform for precision oncology, building on clinical results recently published in Science Translational Medicine. Our platform enables highly multiplexed protein analysis across the translational pathway, with initial applications in solid tumor profiling for point-of-care settings (e.g., global health settings) and biomarker validation and profiling in trials for immunotherapies.

We are hiring a Scientist or Biomedical Engineer to support our research and development activities, who will work in concert with our CEO, Senior Research Scientist, and Scientific Advisory Board. The primary responsibilities for this role include leading the technical work for Aikili’s point-of-care diagnostic tool and managing its deployment in trials with leading partners in the U.S. and sub-Saharan Africa through an NIH Small Business Innovation (SBIR) grant. Further responsibilities include:

  • Designing and performing key experiments to validate and develop our diagnostic platform
  • Learning and executing Aikili’s assay and conducting data analysis on clinical samples
  • Training our clinical trial partners to use the technology; providing technical backstopping on quality control
  • Potential support for field testing in Kenya

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a team member who is highly motivated to commercialize early stage diagnostic technology, and who has strong interest in facilitating access to health technologies for all patients. Position Description:

The role of the Communications Assistant will be to coordinate Firefly Innovations’ event planning and logistics and design and manage Firefly Innovations’ communications, marketing and social media campaigns.

The Communications Assistant will report directly to Dr. Terry Huang, the Director of CSCD and Founder of Firefly Innovations. The Communications Assistant will be responsible for organizing CSCD’s Systems Change Lecture and Workshop Series, among other events (all events are virtual at this time).
