Students for Racial Justice Support Group

Tuesday, December 8, 2020
5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

The extrajudicial killing of George Floyd inspired an impactful global movement focused on justice for Mr. Floyd, police reforms, and racial justice for Black people.

We acknowledge the trauma of witnessing unarmed Black people being killed by police. We acknowledge the difficulty (particularly for the Black community) of addressing two public health crises simultaneously – systemic racism and COVID-19. We acknowledge the stress related to protesting in the streets (including continued police violence and other health risks). We acknowledge the emotional and social challenges of doing antiracism work. We acknowledge that self-care is crucial as we engage in activism on the ground and/or from our homes. With great respect, we offer an open, weekly, virtual support group for SPH students promoting racial justice. The goal is to make connections through sharing experiences in a supportive environment where stress can be managed. If you would like more information and/or are interested in joining please email Student Wellness Counselor Sherry Adams at sherry.adams@sph.cuny.eduPlease note that for students outside of New York State the Student Wellness Counselor will provide you with referrals in your area.

THIS EVENT IS FOR CUNY SPH STUDENTS ONLY.
