Intro to Music Therapy with Dr. Abrams

Dr. Abrams will provide a brief introduction to and historical context of music therapy as a practice and profession, video examples of it in action with a range of communities, and several hands-on, interactive/live examples of experiences that will provide attendees a sense of what engagement in music therapy might be like.

There will be time for Q&A and engaging in conversation. Brian Abrams, Ph.D., MT-BC, LCAT, Analytical Music Therapist and Fellow of the Association for Music and Imagery, has been a music therapist since 1995, with experience across a range of clinical contexts. Dr. Abrams has served on the faculty at Montclair State University since 2008, and has published and presented internationally on a wide range of topics such as music therapy in cancer care, trans-generational trauma, music psychotherapy, humanistic music therapy, and Health Humanities.
