URBAN FOOD POLICY FORUM

Healthy CUNY and the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute are excited to invite you to join our upcoming online forum. We will explore how to improve CUNY’s food environment while considering a range of issues such as waste, affordability, cafeteria and vending machine options, water availability, food pantries, campus gardens and farms, and food labor rights.

We invite all students, faculty, and staff to join us in brainstorming, envisioning, and implementing strategies for building healthier food environments across CUNY. As we slowly begin returning to campus, we need to ensure that CUNY is choosing options and policies that prioritize students’ health, food security, and wellbeing.

During this online forum, we plan to explore questions such as how can students, faculty, and staff become advocates for changes they want to see in the food environment? How can students claim a voice in the food decision making processes at CUNY? How can we integrate an anti-racism and democratic approach to CUNY’s food system to ensure that purchasing decisions are not driven by profits or costs, but students’ well-being?

We hope to use this online forum as an opportunity to bring together and connect students, faculty, and staff who are active or want to get involved in addressing different aspects of CUNY’s food system, strengthen our network, and identify key priorities to work on over the next year. To join in on the conversation, please register here!
