Fountain House and The Clubhouse Model

The Fountain House clubhouse is a place for people with serious mental illness to form friendships, offer and seek support, and learn new skills – without judgment or fees.

In this presentation, we will focus on the community-based psychosocial rehabilitation model the “clubhouse model” – and the intervention method – social practice. It will summarize the history of the clubhouse movement, and how it’s stood the test of time, and present a growing body of research demonstrating how clubhouses effectively link members to employment and education opportunities while reducing hospitalizations and related costs.

The panelists will speak about the immense value add of these intentional communities to not only restore people’s dignity and agency but directly address the social drivers of health.
