Keynote Speaker: Miquel Porta

Title: The language of epidemiology in science and society. On the occasion of the 7th edition of ‘A Dictionary of Epidemiology’

Abstract: We propose a conversation on the language that epidemiology and the other health, life, and social sciences use to dialogue in science and in society on issues of social, clinical, biological, or methodological relevance.

Speaker Bio: 

Miquel Porta, MD, MPH, PhD, is a senior scientist at Hospital del Mar Institute of Medical Research (IMIM), and Professor of Preventive Medicine & Public Health, at the School of Medicine, Universitat Autonoma, in Barcelona, Spain

He was an adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an Adjunct Professor, at the Grossman School of Medicine at New York University, and Visiting Scholar, at NYU School of Global Public Health.

Dr. Porta is the current editor of A Dictionary of Epidemiology (7th edition in press at Oxford University Press, 2026). He is also a coauthor of other books and scientific articles.
