Take a behind-the-scenes look at a live informational interview between SPH Professor Karmen Williams and Amanda Pierz, SPH doctoral student and course instructor. Informational interviews can expand your network, help you gain insider professional knowledge, and lead to career paths you didn’t know existed. From the Office of Career Services, this virtual event will also share best practices on informational interviewing, so that you can feel confident to prepare and conduct them yourself.

Featured speakers:
* Dr. Karmen Williams’ research has focused on systemic informatics integration projects such as Patient-Centered Data Homes and dental and medical record integration. Dr. Williams is actively involved in the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) where she is the director of ‘For Your Informatics’ (FYI), a podcast that explores the limitless world of medical informatics. Dr. Williams is passionate about increasing representation in STEM at the system level in all areas of informatics.

* Amanda Pierz is a PhD student at CUNY SPH in the Community Health & Health Policy concentration, a course instructor, as well as a Research Fellow at CUNY SPH’s Center for Immigrant Refugee and Global Health. Her background as a social epidemiologist and global health researcher has primarily centered on HIV and HPV co-infections in Central Africa and the Bronx, along with other work at the Center for Positive Living (CPL) at Montefiore Medical Center and technical support to the WHO Interdepartmental Task Force on safety surveillance in pregnancy.

* Tina Lin is SPH’s Student Career Advisor. She meets with students to explore career pathways and help them prepare for professional opportunities.
