CUNY SPH Assistant Professor Ann Gaba co-authored two chapters of a textbook which will be published September 2 by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The book, Communicating Nutrition: The Authoritative Guide, edited by Barbara Mayfield MS RDN FAND, provides theoretical background for best practices in nutrition communication to help build foundational knowledge and skills.

Chapter 24 of the book was co-authored by Gaba and Betsy Ramirez, MEd, RDN, and demonstrates how to make and utilize various types of video materials for nutrition education.

“I am especially pleased to see that my example on page 381 about using videos in simulations for nutrition students was included in the final version,” Gaba says.

Chapter 41 is about writing and publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Gaba co-authored this chapter with Elizabeth Jimenez PhD RDN LD and Virginia Quick PhD RDN.

“Writing about writing for journals is a bit different than writing for journals themselves, so that was more my role with this chapter, being a bit meta with that,” Gaba says. “I also contributed many of the items in boxes in this chapter, including the example of an email form a ‘predatory journal’ on page 633.”

Communicating Nutrition: The Authoritative Guide is available for pre-order here and on Amazon.
