The Spring 2025 Virtual Career Fair is your chance to connect with highly skilled graduate students and alumni from CUNY SPH, the leading public school of public health in the tri-state area. Through Handshake’s intuitive platform, you can engage with top talent in one-on-one video chats and group sessions, showcasing your organization and available opportunities.

This page provides all the information you need to prepare for a successful experience, including how to register, set up your virtual booth, and connect with candidates. For additional details, refer to Handshake’s Guide to Virtual Career Fairs. Be sure to register and finalize your schedule by Wednesday, April 16, 2025, to secure your spot at the Career Fair.

Getting Started with Handshake

To get started with Handshake as an employer and connect with CUNY SPH students and alumni, follow these steps:

  1. Visit app.joinhandshake.com/employer_registrations/new and enter your email address and a secure password that meets Handshake’s requirements. Click Sign Up to proceed.
  2. On the next page, provide the required information: your first and last name, phone number (visible only to career centers), and job title (your personal role, not the position you’re hiring for). Select your country and indicate the types of candidates you’re looking to recruit. Optionally, add your alma mater.
  3. Review and agree to the Handshake Employer Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy. If you’re a third-party recruiter, indicate this during the registration process and follow the provided guidelines.
  4. Check your email for a verification message from Handshake. Click the Confirm Email button in the email to verify your account. If you don’t receive the email, refer to Troubleshooting Missing Confirmation Emails.
  5. After verifying your email, search for your company on Handshake. If your company is listed, click Request to join. If your company is not listed, click Create New Company and complete the profile setup. Your account will then be reviewed and validated by Handshake’s Trust and Safety team.
  6. Once your account is validated, connect with CUNY SPH by posting jobs or events specific to the school. To post a job, follow the steps in How to Post a Job. If you’d like to host an event, contact CUNY SPH directly through Handshake to request approval.

Note: To find CUNY SPH on Handshake, enter “CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy.”

By completing these steps, you’ll be ready to connect with highly skilled graduate students and alumni from CUNY SPH.

To log in to your existing Handshake account as an employer, follow these steps:

  1. Visit app.joinhandshake.com/login.
  2. Enter the email address associated with your employer account.
  3. Type in your password and click “Log In” to access your profile.

If you’ve forgotten your password, click “Forgot Password?” on the login page. You’ll receive an email with instructions to reset your password.

To connect with CUNY SPH and gain access to our talented students and alumni, your company must first be approved on Handshake. Here’s how you can get started:

Post a Job to CUNY SPH

  1. Log in to your Handshake account and create a job posting.
  2. When selecting schools for your job posting, include “CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy” in your list of target institutions.
  3. Once your job is reviewed and approved by CUNY SPH, your company will automatically be connected to the school.

Contact CUNY SPH Directly

  1. If you don’t have a job to post right away but would like to connect with CUNY SPH, you can contact the Career Services team directly through Handshake or by emailing CareerServices@sph.cuny.edu.
  2. Request to be proactively approved as an employer to gain access to our network.

What Happens Once Approved?

Once CUNY SPH approves your company or job posting:

  1. You can post additional jobs and events targeted at CUNY SPH students and alumni.
  2. You’ll gain access to search for and message candidates in our network.
  3. You’ll be able to register for events like the Spring 2025 Virtual Career Fair to connect with top public health talent.

Identifying and Registering for the Career Fair

To find the Spring 2025 Virtual Career Fair hosted by CUNY SPH, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Handshake account at app.joinhandshake.com/login.
  2. Click Fairs from the lefthand navigation bar.
  3. Use the search bar or filters on the left to locate the CUNY SPH Spring 2025 Virtual Career Fair. You can filter by keyword (search for “CUNY SPH Spring 2025 Virtual Career Fair”), favorite schools, location type (select “Virtual” to narrow results to virtual fairs), and fairs currently accepting registrations.
  4. Click on the name of the fair to view its overview page, which provides additional details about the event, including the date, time, and contact information.

If you don’t see the fair, please register for Handshake Office Hours or contact CareerServices@sph.cuny.edu for further support.

Yes, each company can register up to 100 team members for the Career Fair. Of these, up to 15 representatives can actively participate in one-on-one or group sessions during the event.

Handshake’s virtual fair features include video, audio, and text-based chat, ensuring a seamless experience. You can use Handshake Video or an external platform for your sessions.

By offering both session types, you can effectively share information while connecting with top talent directly.

  1. Company Overview: A brief summary of your mission, values, and what makes your organization unique.
  2. Job Descriptions: Details on open roles, including qualifications and application instructions. Be sure to post all open roles to Handshake.
  3. Presentation Materials: Slides or visuals to showcase your company during group sessions.
  4. Team Preparation: Ensure team members are familiar with your roles and ready to answer candidate questions.
  5. Follow-Up Plan: Have next steps ready for interested candidates, such as application links or follow-up instructions.

To ensure a smooth experience during the Career Fair, follow these steps to test your virtual setup:

  1. Check the Host Requirements for Integrated Video to make sure your device and browser are properly configured for Handshake’s video platform.
  2. Use the Handshake Video Test to check your audio, video, and screen-sharing settings. Conduct a test session with a colleague to verify that everything works as expected.

Participating in the Career Fair

To access and host your sessions on the day of the Career Fair, follow these steps:

  1. Go to app.joinhandshake.com/login and sign in with your employer account.
  2. Click on Fairs in the lefthand navigation bar.
  3. Select the CUNY SPH Spring 2025 Virtual Career Fair from your list of registered events.
  4. Open the Schedules tab to view your sessions. Group sessions and 1:1 meetings will be listed along with their start times.

For sessions using Handshake Video: Click the Launch video button next to the session.

For sessions using an external platform: Click the external video link provided in the session details.

Note: Employers can start sessions up to 60 minutes before the scheduled time.

If you encounter technical issues during the Career Fair, you can join our dedicated Help Room on Zoom, available throughout the event. Details and the Zoom link will be shared in our email correspondence before the fair. You can also use Handshake’s built-in features to report the problem directly, or email CareerServices@sph.cuny.edu for additional support.

We recommend testing your setup ahead of time to minimize potential issues. For guidance, refer to Handshake’s troubleshooting resources or join a Handshake Office Hours session before the fair.

To maximize your one-on-one and group sessions during the Career Fair:

  1. Prepare in Advance: Review the students registered for your sessions and their Handshake profiles to tailor your discussions.
  2. Engage Effectively: Use your group sessions to provide a concise overview of your organization and address frequently asked questions. Reserve your one-on-one sessions for more personalized, meaningful conversations with qualified candidates.
  3. Showcase Your Opportunities: Highlight open roles, your company culture, and growth opportunities to attract the right candidates.

  3. How do you see your skills aligning with the opportunities we’re offering?
  4. What are your long-term career goals, and how can we support them?
