CUNY SPH is delighted to announce that Dr. Elizabeth Kelvin has been appointed interim associate dean for research, effective August 16, 2025.

Dr. Kelvin is an associate professor with the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and a researcher at the CUNY Institute for Implementation Science in Population Health (ISPH) and the Center for Immigrant, Refugee and Global Health (CIRGH). She is also a member of the Data Core of the Preparedness & Recovery Institute (PRI). Her research focuses on infectious disease epidemiology and she has conducted a number of studies, including treatment and prevention randomized controlled trials, in the United States, Latin America and Africa.

In this new role, Dr. Kelvin will lead the Office of Sponsored Projects and Research (SPaR), which provides pre- and post-award research support, assuring human subject protection, and research compliance. She will be taking over from Dr. Michele Kiely, who is retiring after a decade of service as the associate dean for research.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kelvin to this new role,” says Dean Ayman El-Mohandes. “Her excellent research track record and dedication to the success of fellow faculty and students makes her a natural match for the title.”
