Tatyana James

Tatyana James joins the CUNY SPH Foundation as the inaugural senior manager of annual giving, where she will design and lead a dynamic program to expand philanthropic support for the school’s mission in public health education.

She comes to the Foundation from Focus for Democracy, an organization that advises political donors on strategic, data-driven investments. In this role, she played a key part in supporting the major giving program, managing donor outreach, and strengthening external partnerships. Tatyana’s career has been shaped by a deep commitment to advancing the nonprofit sector. She has held roles as a nonprofit executive search consultant and development professional, always driven by a passion for mission-driven work.

She has a strong personal connection to both public health and CUNY. Early in her career, she served as a policy intern for New York State Senator Gustavo Rivera, chair of the Senate Health Committee, where she gained firsthand insight into the importance of public health investment. A lifelong New Yorker from the Bronx, Tatyana is a proud graduate of CUNY Lehman College.
