We are delighted to welcome Donna Canfield, who joined us on June 17 as the new executive counsel and labor designee for CUNY SPH and the CUNY School of Professional Studies.
Donna joins us from the Battery Park City Authority, where she was most recently deputy general counsel for labor and employment. Before that, she served New York City for over a decade as assistant corporation counsel for the City Law Department and as employment and litigation counsel for the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
In her new CUNY role, she will provide executive and administrative direction over the schools’ legal affairs as a key member of each dean’s senior leadership team. She will be responsible for a broad array of legal, regulatory, compliance, employment, and risk management matters that arise in the context of higher education. She will serve as the schools’ liaison to the CUNY Office of General Counsel and senior vice chancellor for legal affairs and general counsel, the labor designee and as liaison to the Office of the CUNY Senior Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Labor Relations regarding employee relations, and as the ethics officer and records access officer.
Donna earned her JD at the CUNY School of Law in 2002. She also holds a master’s degree in women’s studies from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree in music from Ohio University.
