Division of Energy Management DCAS Division of Energy Management (DEM) line of service are the forerunners of the City’s energy portfolio. POSITION: Digital health and health disparities (Postdoctoral position)

Position description: We are seeking one full-time postdoctoral fellow to join the Digital Health & Health Disparities Research Lab. The lab is housed in the Population and Community Health Sciences Branch of the Intramural Research Program at the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities, National Institutes of Health. The mission of the lab is to leverage digital technologies for health promotion and disease prevention among minorities and health disparity populations. The main focus is on the design and evaluation of just-in-time adaptive interventions via the collection of real-time ecological momentary assessments and physiological smartphone sensor and wearables data. Candidates must have completed a PhD in social or behavioral science, biostatistics, epidemiology, or a closely related field and have no more than five years of relevant research experience since receipt of their most recent doctoral degree. Candidates must have expertise or an interest in developing expertise in health disparities and digital health. Expertise in quantitative research methods and advanced statistical analysis is a must. Expertise in natural language processing, machine learning, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is highly desirable. The fellow will assist with study design and implementation, data analysis, and publication of study findings. In addition, the fellow will work on secondary data projects. The postdoctoral fellow will develop his/her own research questions related to digital health and health disparities.
Fellows receive multidisciplinary training and mentorship at NIH. They also receive support in developing a K-series or similar grant proposal during their fellowship. They can also apply for internal funding mechanisms. They are encouraged to participate in grant writing courses and trainings. Postdoctoral fellows can participate in journal clubs, in-person speaker series, and webinar series. POSITION: Associate Research Scientist/Research Scientist

The Laboratory of Precision Environmental Health at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health (PI: Dr. Andrea Baccarelli) invites highly motivated candidates to apply for the position of Associate Research Scientist/Research Scientist. The lab uses a combination of advanced computational tools and wet lab technology to conduct large-scale, high-impact, environmental molecular epidemiology projects. Some of the current lab research interests include epigenomics, epitranscriptomics, mitochondriomics, and metabolomics in the context of environmental health sciences.
The Scientist will report directly to the Principal Investigator and manage key aspects of lab activities and coordinate the long-term trajectory of the lab’s research. Specifically, the Scientist will supervise lab personnel, including students, postdoctoral scientists, and staff, coordinate/lead data analysis on existing projects, and development and application of novel epigenetics tools and methods to human environmental health studies. The Scientist will prepare data reports, conduct literature searches, interpret data, and contribute to the writing of grant applications. The Scientist will attend meetings with collaborators and lab members and contribute to new ideas for future grant proposals. They will help in grant preparation including proposing ideas, drafting sections, and writing administrative documents. They will participate in data interpretation and prepare figures and tables from publications. The Scientist will be responsible for moving forward projects within the lab, mentoring lab members, and maintain active collaborations with other labs and institutions.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills to manage a team are required. The ideal candidate will have one or more of the following skills/areas of expertise, including expertise in molecular epidemiology, data analysis, molecular biology, epigenetics/genetics. Expertise in environmental health science is preferred.
Specific goals for this position include developing and executing new projects, identifying opportunities for collaborative relationships with other labs and investigators, and identifying resources to accelerate the completion of research goals. This position requires a strong ability to multi-task, provide accurate and timely results with attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.

– Preparation of environmental samples prior to analysis for Bulk Sample Gravimetric Prep, TEM Microvac and Wipe Prep, TEM Water Prep; and any areas of prep related to client work.
– Other laboratory duties such as sample archiving and disposition, and TEM grid preparation.
– Perform standard and non-standard laboratory prep procedures according to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
– Must have good laboratory practices.
– Assist with laboratory organization, supply inventory, calibrations, and cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
– Assist with light cleaning of laboratory when needed.
– Other laboratory duties as deemed appropriate to assist in the overall functioning of the lab may be assigned by lab staff and management as needed.
Requirements:
– High School degree/equivalent or Associates Degree in Life Science or 2 years of college course work completed
– One to two years’ of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plus.
– Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform subsampling procedure.
– Must be able to work independently and with a team.
– Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
– Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.
Available Shift:
Tuesday to Saturday 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. (Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.)

Job Purpose: The Grants Manager will be responsible for the contractual, financial, budgeting and reporting for the Bloomberg Philanthropies Partnership for Health Cities Initiative (PHC) and RESET Alcohol funding via GiveWell. The Grants Manager will work in close collaboration with the program team, the Finance Division, and external contractors and vendors. This position will supervise a Grants Associate.
This is a full-time position based in either our New York office, or the NY Tri-state, where a hybrid, 2-day-per-week office schedule is in place and expected. We are also open to the DC-metro area. We offer highly competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. The Salary range for this position in New York is $85,000 to $95,000. If the candidate lives outside of this area, the salary range may be adjusted based on local market conditions. The candidate must have eligibility to work in the U.S. at time of hire.
Required Experience –
- · Staff supervision experience;
- · Minimum 6 years of experience accounting, audit, donor, and sub-grantee management
- · Demonstrated experience in creating grant-related budgets and proposal budgeting;
- · Experience in working with global teams in multiple time zones;
- · Experience managing varied donor as well as federal grants (USAID, DOS, NIH, CDC etc.).
Preferred Experience –
- · Grant close-out experience;
- · 7 to 8 years of experience in accounting, audit, donor, and sub-grantee management preferred.
