CUNY SPH master’s student Preet Kukreja was honored as one of the Health Innovators to Watch 2023 by The Boston Congress of Public Health (BCPH).
Preet is pursuing her Masters in Public Health in Epidemiology & Biostatistics and serves as the Director of Population Health Initiatives at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital with extensive experience in project implementation, evaluation and sustainability. She has been instrumental in the implementation of public health programs to address the COVID-19 pandemic, public health emergencies like monkeypox and community health needs like cancer, diabetes, substance use and HIV.
As an experienced public health professional, Preet saw the value of establishing a connection with the Office of Career Services (OCS) for her overall career management. She has worked with the Career team to identify and articulate her strengths, knowledge and experiences relevant to her career goals, and to identify areas necessary for professional growth.
“Recognition is not just an accolade,” Preet says. “It is a testament to the hard work put in every day toward achieving our career goals. As a public health leader, it’s important to seek resources that will help me navigate my career path. That’s why I am proud to be connected with our Office of Career Services. They continue to be a valuable partner in my pursuit of career management and a brighter future for myself and the communities I serve.”
Honorees selected for the Health Innovators to Watch Awards come from across the globe, representing health and healthcare innovation in traditional public health fields, research, academia and more. In addition, innovators are intentionally diverse in backgrounds, from public health founders, inventors, directors, researchers, academicians and curriculum developers.
“I have had the great pleasure of working with Preet in career coaching for the past year,” says OCS Special Projects Manager Monica Robles. “As a results-driven professional with a mission for deep impact in her community, Preet connected with the Office of Career Services for support in her career goals. In each session, she took an active role in planning her future steps. It is no surprise to me that she was recognized for her contributions–I left each of our sessions inspired by her dedication. I am confident that she will continue to make an impact and advance in the field.”
