Three CUNY SPH students selected for CEESP fellowships

Three students in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics track were awarded Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) fellowships for their respective research projects:

  • Danya Birnbaum, “Cervical Cancer Screening in Women Living with HIV at Montefiore Medical Center”
  • Doris Chiu, “Determining the Incidence of Colorectal Cancer in South Egypt”
  • Isabel Curro, “Cancer Community Health Resources and Needs Assessment (CHRNA) Study: An Investigation of Cancer Beliefs, Screening, and Intervention Characteristics among Asian and Black Residents of New York City”

Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) is a research training program funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Cancer Institute (NCI) that aims to develop careers of public health students in the field of cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention and control. The CEESP Program provides funding to students to conduct mentored cancer research in global and U.S. minority settings.
