POSITION: Research Program Manager
ORGANIZATION: Weill Cornell Medicine – health services research lab
Research Program Manager position in health services research lab at Weill Cornell Medicine. The PI’s lab has a large range of NIH and foundation-funded studies, including observational research (secondary data analyses, qualitative research) and interventions and clinical trials. Large focus on community-based research and community engagement. Under guidance, this position provides administrative and logistical support for awarded projects and activities within either, or both, national and international sectors. This role is primarily responsible for program implementation and grants, operational and statistical management and may be required to travel to study sites.
Job Responsibilities
- Monitors existing projects to ensure milestone and goals are met, participates in strategic planning and assists with ensuring projects stay within budget and adhere to regulations and policies.
- Provides administrative support for research protocols and ensures protocols are submitted and renewed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manages the program’s day-to-day statistical and data management operations including data collection/entry, literature searches and tracking of effort on project against project estimates/budgets. Prepares reports and presentations as needed.
- Provides the leadership for facilitating and expediting the research grant and contract application process. Provides guidance to staff on all aspects of the grant process.
- Provides recommendations to faculty on preferred sponsor application guidelines to allow the best opportunity for approval and awarding.
- As needed, travels to local and/or international study sites to evaluate program, write progress reports and make recommendations for subsequent year program proposals. May need to develop and plan domestic and international meetings between collaborators.
- May design and manage the content of the program’s webpage including regular updates and content reviews to ensure the information is current and relevant.
- May be responsible for processing academic appointments, reappointments, promotions, notice of non-renewals, and annual faculty reviews.
- May be responsible for the processing of visa paperwork for visiting/international academic staff.
- May be responsible for maintaining the program’s computing resources and planning for the growth such as software licensing and computer upgrades.
- Facilitates and executes grant writing, scientific publication, regulatory review, and industry collaboration. Prioritizes, prepares briefings and compiles reports on project progress and operations.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field

The BHHS team has an opening for a New York Knows Program Project Officer (City Research Scientist I) who will play an important role in the health department’s New York Knows HIV testing and prevention initiative.The New York Knows program seeks to make HIV testing, with referral to care and prevention services, an integral part of the lives of all New Yorkers, while also promoting testing and screening for Hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted infections (STI).
The Program Project Officer will engage and collaborate with organizations, healthcare facilities, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations and businesses to reach the goals of the initiative.The Program Project Officer will also oversee and monitor some Prevention Contracts and provide technical assistance to funded agencies.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Assist in the coordination of the Women’s Advisory Board, a New York Knows coalition comprised of a diverse group of dedicated and passionate women leaders who are committed to improving HIV prevention and care for women in NYC through dialogue and concerted action.
- Provide technical assistance and coordinate trainings to community partners on HIV testing, linking people living with HIV to care, and linking those who test negative for HIV to prevention services, as well as on Hepatitis c and STI screening and testing;
- Establish and maintain working relationships with New York Knows community partners.
- Assist in the organizing and coordination of workshops and meetings for community partners.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of community testing events.
- Assist with the monitoring and evaluation of the initiative, including community partner data collection, as well as event, meeting, and programmatic evaluation.
- Assist community partners in implementing prevention, testing programs and events.
- Oversee and monitor contracted agencies using quality management approach, to ensure complete and timely reporting of data and evaluate the performance of contracted agencies.

POSITION: Farmworker Housing Study Outreach and Field Coordinator
ORGANIZATION: National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) grant with University of Maryland (UMD)
In collaboration with the University of Maryland (UMD) who received a National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) grant, CATA along with other partners are recipients of a subgrant award from UMD for our participation in the Research Employing Environmental Systems and Occupational Health Policy Analyses to Interrupt the Impact of Structural Racism on Agricultural Workers and Their Respiratory Health (RESPIRAR). CATA is seeking a Study Outreach and Field Coordinator to work with our current Organizer on the Eastern Shore of Maryland for the implementation of this project. The principal responsibilities of the Study Outreach and Field Coordinator will include:
- Recruiting of farmworker participants on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (9 counties) for surveys, housing assessments, environmental sampling, and saliva sample collection that will take place during Years 1 and 2 of grant. The aim is to recruit 10 + housing locations and up to 100 workers from those housing locations in Year 1 and in Year 2 of the grant.
- Assisting University of Maryland (UMD) College Park personnel in weekly visits to conduct environmental monitoring of indoor air quality of farmworker housing, training farmworkers on how to do the housing assessment (3 times over the growing season), and collecting weekly saliva samples from farmworkers on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (9 counties) during Years 1 and 2 of grant.
- Participate on the Core Modeling Team (CMT) with study team members from UMD College Park, UMD Baltimore and Washington University in St. Louis to inform the design of Community-based System Dynamics (CBSD) group model building workshops with farmworkers and other stakeholders in MD, NJ, NY, PA and VA.
- Participate in monthly project team meetings, annual research team review meeting, and bi-monthly (6 meetings per year) with Community Advisory Committee for the grant.
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Regular participation in general CATA staff meetings
- Engagement with general CATA activities and membership
- Documentation of work and submittal of monthly reports
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and human rights values
- Experience with CATA or other social justice organizations is not required, but a plus
- Competency of speech and writing in both English and Spanish
- Previous experience working with low-wage workers and/or communities of color is not required, but preferred
- Previous experience in outreach/community education helpful
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, while also being able to work as part of a team.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and a vehicle.

HBHS is one of two departments in the UNTHSC School of Public Health. The goal of the HBHS department is to help communities and health systems improve policy, management, and public health practice.
