POSITION: CUNY LEADS Neurodiversity Job Developer

ORGANIZATION: CUNY School of Professional Studies 

LEADS stands for “Linking Employment, Academics and Disability Services”.  The CUNY LEADS Neurodiversity Job Developer will report to the CUNY SPS Associate Director of Student Services. This position will be housed at CUNY SPS and will focus on job development for the neurodiverse population of CUNY LEADS students. In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the CUNY LEADS Neurodiversity Job Developer will also:

  • Act as a University-wide resource for neurodiverse students, especially students on the Autism spectrum.
  • Develop relationships with outside organizations interested in hiring neurodiverse CUNY students and alumni.
  • Lead meetings of Job Club for Autistic CUNY students, alumni, and those who have stopped out.
  • Create online resource archive for job seeking neurodiverse students which may include informational resources, videos, pertinent job listings, hiring programs and employer contacts.
  • Identify opportunities for, and support students with ACCES-VR sponsorship for assistance with tuition and other career related needs. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree and four years’ related experience required; Master’s degree and experience working in academic, career advisement or job placement functions with students with disabilities preferred.  Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; should demonstrate proficiency in computer and database skills. Prefer experience serving individuals from cross-disability backgrounds and knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act and other key disability legislation.
  • The preferred candidate will also have:
  • Master’s degree in relevant field.

POSITION: WTC Heart Project – Technician Interviewer (3 open positions)

ORGANIZATION: CUNY Queens College – Barry Commoner Center for Health & the Environment

The Barry Commoner Center for Health & the Environment, located at Queens College, CUNY, is an environmental and occupational health research institute.  The mission of the Center is to identify and help rectify environmental and occupational threats to human health.  Areas of current research include air pollution, immigrant and occupational health, lung cancer screening, and World Trade Center 9/11 health effects. 

 Work Type: We are seeking interviewers for follow-up to the World Trade Center Heart Study at the Commoner Center, Queens College.  Full time for English interviewer and part time for Spanish and Polish interviewers.

  • Interviewer #1 (Full-time) must be fluent in English; 
  • Interviewer #2 (60% time) must be fluent in English and Spanish; and 
  • Interviewer #3 (30% time) must be fluent in English and Polish, both written and verbal.

The technicians’ interviewers (3) will work on the World Trade Center Heart Study at the Barry Commoner Center at office and at home (hybrid). S/he will assist the project coordinator with the active annual follow-up consisting of:

TECHNICIAN INTERVIEWER Responsibilities:

  1.   Contact and invite all the current WTCH participants to re-consent with them by email, mail, and phone, using the Consent Form.
  2.   Enter sensitive and confidential medical data, using FileMaker Pro database
  3.   Administer the survey online (when an email is available), by mail, or by telephone interview (in case of no response by email or mail), checking for and making attempts at obtaining any missing information in the data collected.
  4.   Assess incident cardiac and incident neurologic events in a standardized self-administered survey conducted either online, by mail or by phone for events since last contact 2018.
  5.   Perform interviews by phone for all subjects with suspected CV events, including positive report of cardiac symptoms, myocardial infarction, neurological symptoms, and/or stroke.

5.1 Obtain all positive interviews, all necessary physician, hospital, or death documents as recorded.

5.2 Request the medical chart for abnormalities pertaining to the study after obtaining written informed consent (HIPPA form).

 Other Duties: Liaise between hospitals and participants for medical records, including conducting discussions with physicians and nurses. Schedule (online and in person) visits to the World Trade Center Heart program at Mount Sinai Hospital. Generate reports on request for Principal Investigator and summarized findings. Maintain study records custody and create a filing system for highly sensitive medical information. POSITION: Project Coordinator

ORGANIZATION: Columbia University Irving Medical Center

Columbia University’s Wellness Center is home to Columbia’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Training Institute called ‘InTOuCH.’ This program recruits trusted members of churches from West and Central Harlem to complete an 8-week, certified CHW training curriculum. With funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the current project involves leveraging CHWs to work with Black churches in New York City to screen community members for depression and anxiety, provide brief counseling, and support community members get connected to mental health treatment. The primary investigators of this project are Drs. Olajide Williams and Sidney Hankerson.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for conducting structured assessments with study participants and supervising Research Assistants.  The Project Coordinator will also support the hiring of future groups of church-based CHWs for this study.  The Project Coordinator will work closely with the project’s Data Coordinating Center to oversee recruitment, and weekly management, and provide updates on recruitment. The Project Coordinator will have a strong understanding of the socio-cultural factors that contribute to mental health disparities (i.e., racism), with a specific focus on African-American faith-based communities.

POSITION: Health Equity Director of Research

Boston Medical Center Health System is a ~$4B system whose mission is to provide Exceptional Care without Exception. The Health System includes a tertiary academic medical center, a network of community health centers, a health plan and an affiliated accountable care organization. We have recently launched BMC’s “Health Equity Accelerator” with the purpose of ‘transforming healthcare to deliver health justice and well being’. The Accelerator is developing an innovative multi-disciplinary approach to address inequities. As part of this approach, the Accelerator is seeking to amplify the reach of work (both programmatic/operational efforts as well as research) done to further equity through increased publication and dissemination. We are looking for a Health Equity Clinical Research Director who can support this goal by

1) working with the existing research infrastructure at BMC to increase dissemination of health equity work (e.g., programmatic efforts and research) through publication

2) in partnership with development and the existing grants team, grow the number of grant-funded equity research projects and

3) provide opportunities for faculty and staff to develop skills required for academic research as well as those required for health equity research. 

Working independently with appropriate guidance from the Health Equity Accelerator Director of Research, and executive leadership, the Health Equity Clinical Research Director will oversee a portfolio of equity research projects.

The Health Equity Clinical Research Director will collaborate with various departments at Boston Medical Center to develop and ensure adherence to study protocols and compliance with study procedures; develop relationships with principal investigators, research coordinators and other study personnel to assess study progress and identifypotential obstacles to enrollment and meeting project milestones; support The Accelerator to execute research and projects through project management, organization of meetings, coordination of tasks, subject recruitment, troubleshooting and intervention development, dissemination of documentation and information, and assistance with grant applications, research presentations and manuscript preparations/submissions

  • Serve as primary liaison with different BMC research departments/divisions, including, but not limited to physician investigators, research nurses, research project managers, study coordinators, research assistants. 
  • Coordination of Health Equity project activities, working in conjunction with Principal Investigators of collaborating departments. 
  • Interface with NIH, trial leadership committees, and on-site and off-site research collaborators to execute project goals. 
  • Develop program and project specific standard operating procedures (SOPs), develop, implement, and/or update new processes to improve project execution. 
  • Function as a resource for research departments/divisions for all study-related issues, including problem identification and corrective/preventive solution development. 
  • Design, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies for study participants and ongoing monitoring of accrual rates.
  • Manage data collection process in conjunction with research teams and coordinating staff, including with process of ensuring site compliance and patient data integrity. 
  • Develop and implement protocol modification and subsequent institutional review board approval in collaboration with PI.
  • Participate in grant proposals and manuscript writing, assist in preparing data for analysis and publication in collaboration with investigators.
  • Prepare reports and analyses reflecting study progress, enrollment trends and appropriate recommendations and conclusions for all levels of project oversight, including the investigators, PI(s), executive leadership, and NIH.
  • Preparation and presentation of project related material at local, regional, national and international meetings and conferences in collaboration with PI and other investigators.
  • Participate in scientific meetings and discussions, attend relevant workshops, programs and trainings.
  • Manage daily project management activities including team leadership, sponsor interactions, vendor management, project team performance and resource management.
  • Directly supervise activities of Research Staff, including performance evaluations, and relays program and project specific information to staff, provides administrative and programmatic support to project staff and research coordinators.
  • Study start up activities including investigator recruitment and selection, collection of regulatory documents, IRB/EC submissions, participation in Investigator Meeting, site preparation and Site Initiation Visits.
  • Confirms investigative sites’ adherence to pertinent regulations with regard to protection of subjects’ rights and safety through development and/or review of monitoring reports, QA-GCP audit reports and communications with CRAs, and/or investigative site personnel issues.
  • Assist in monitoring grant budget, in collaboration with PIs and Grant Administrators.
  • Assists The Accelerator’s executive leadership in ensuring effective human resource management, including hiring of The Accelerator research staff.

  • Assure training of site personnel in Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and project specific Clinical Quality Management Practices.

  • Develops and maintains quality improvement and outcome monitoring programs and facilitates monthly program meetings.

Education JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • Six years progressive development experience with demonstrated success soliciting and closing gifts greater than $1 million.
  • Familiarity with all facets of development, including capital campaigns, and a demonstrable understanding of how to manage a portfolio of highly-rated prospects.
  • Experience working with board members and key leaders preferred.
  • Successful experience directly supporting capital campaign volunteers (or other organizational leadership, such as boards, management, or physicians).

POSITION: Training Manager

ORGANIZATION: Converge

Converge: Partners in Access is seeking a Training Manager to work within the Measurement, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) department. This a new position at Converge as we continue to build our training program. The position is a good fit for someone with initiative to develop new content and opportunities, extremely detail oriented, welcomes and is comfortable with the unknown, and is open and flexible. This person will work directly with the Director of MLE to coordinate all efforts regarding Converge-developed trainings. This individual will oversee the consultation and development of Converge trainings, recruitment and retention of trainees, and management of training software. This individual will also work in collaboration with the Director of MLE to develop and execute an evaluation plan for Converge developed trainings. This position will require technical skills as well as consumer-facing skills to recruit trainees and promote Converge-developed trainings.  

About Converge: Converge seeks to expand access to quality, person-centered family planning throughout Mississippi and the South. As the state’s Title X grantee, we support the provision of quality family planning care by providing funding, oversight, and technical assistance to a network of Title X clinics across the state. We also deliver training and technical assistance to providers and conduct policy, advocacy, and research activities that promote increased access to quality care.

POSITION: Director, Office of Research Training and Career Development (ORTCD)

ORGANIZATION: Division of Cardiovascular Sciences (DCVS)

The Office of Research Training and Career Development (ORTCD) within the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences is recruiting for a Director. The Director, ORTCD will lead a team to support training & career development in cardiovascular research to learn basic, preclinical, clinical and population research at the predoc, postdoc, and junior faculty levels.

Responsibilities of the position include:

  • Supervision of an office of 7 (and growing!) staff members
  • Serve as the Chair of the DCVS Training Committee, coordinating extramural training and career development activities across the division
  • Work with cardiovascular research and related professional groups to inform early career trainees of DCVS research training programs
  • Spread information about DCVS’s research training and career development programs through national research meetings and publications
  • Evaluate trends and outcomes of DCVS research training portfolio, and identify new scientific areas in which research training might be expanded 
  • Determine the success of research training programs through periodic examination of aggregate research training data  

The office is seeking outstanding PhD and MD (and equivalent) candidates who have experience relevant to the management of extramural cardiovascular research training and career development activities and who seek a supervisory opportunity. Candidates should submit a resume accompanied by a letter of interest in which they share their vision for research training and career development, including their proposed approach to development of a strategic vision implementation plan, and their approach to supervision and performance management, including any supervisory experience they have had.  All candidates, including those without previous formal supervisory experience, should describe previous experiences in which they have led teams of colleagues who did not report directly to them.
