POSITION: Postdoctoral research fellow

ORGANIZATION: Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Department of Epidemiology

The Department of Epidemiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY is looking for a postdoctoral research fellow in life course epidemiology to collaborate in population- based studies of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, neurocognitive functioning, social determinants of health, and childhood cardiometabolic risk. Emphasis of the program is in life course epidemiology and integrating biological and social determinants of health in our existing cohorts. 

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work closely with Dr. Carmen Isasi, Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Population Health and co-Principal Investigator of the Hispanic Community Health Study (HCHS/SOL), as well as with other HCHS/SOL Investigators. 

Using HCHS/SOL as well as other projects based in the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, the Postdoctoral Fellow will have primary responsibility for developing innovative ideas for manuscripts and data analyses with support and advice form the Principal Investigator, other co-investigators and biostatisticians. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will conduct statistical analyses and attend conferences to present study results and to meet with collaborators at other study sites. 

Qualifications 

  • The successful candidate must have a PhD or DrPH in Epidemiology or related health field. Experience with data analyses and manuscripts is required
  • Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Data Analysis and statistical skills 
  • Knowledge of epidemiological research methods and biostatistics and an ability to work independently on ideas for data analyses, manuscripts and grants (with input and mentoring for faculty).

POSITION: Climate Justice Organizer (Part-Time)

ORGANIZATION: Sixth Street Community Center (SSCC)

Sixth Street Community Center (SSCC) is seeking a passionate, mission driven, team-builder to fill the role of a Climate Justice Organizer; part-time 10-15 hours per week; $27-30/HR . 

Working in collaboration with local community members, community based organizations, coalition partners, and stakeholders we are building a bold, diverse mass movement for climate justice by cultivating broad support and equipping supporters to effect change at local, municipal and state levels. This is a new position at SSCC and is made possible through a regrant from the NY Renews Coalition. The Climate Justice Organizer will work collaboratively with numerous coalition partners to build a city and state-wide movement for climate justice and racial justice.

The Climate Justice Organizer will work with SSCC’s Program Director to manage and lead SSCC’s work within climate justice campaigns. The organizer will be a bold and compassionate leader, organizing local community members, volunteers, and organize with existing neighborhood groups. Our goal is to build a fierce BIPOC membership base in the Lower East Side, that can advocate for community input into the city and state of New York’s climate and equity planning process and resource allocation decisions.

POSITION: Research Assistant (Bilingual Spanish/English, Part-Time)

ORGANIZATION: CUNY SPH – Institute for Implementation Science (ISPH)

The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (SPH) Institute for Implementation Science (ISPH) has a rapidly growing research portfolio and is recruiting for a Research Assistant (10-15 hours per week), whose work will involve qualitative data collection, analysis, and community engagement and support. This work will be part of mixed methods project to build community-based organizations’ capacity to foster health literacy in their New York City communities.  

The position start date is immediate (or mutually agreed upon) and is expected to last until June 2023.  Further extension is dependent on funding availability, performance and research interests aligned with SPH.  This can be a primarily remote position. The candidate must be based in the metro NYC area and available to come into the field during data collection if needed.  

Specific duties:

  • Interview community members and community-based organization personnel
  • Administer surveys to community members and community-based organizations personnel
  • Qualitative data coding and analysis
  • Update data collection dashboards
  • Contribute to preliminary data analyses
  • Participate in community engagement activities
  • Other project-related tasks assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or advanced undergraduate student with research experience) or Master’s degree (in progress or completed) in community health, psychology, or other social science field. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish (native speaker) and English
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience (or coursework) conducting community-based research
  • Experience (or coursework) in qualitative data collection,
  • Excellent communication and organization skills

POSITION: Interim Project Director

ORGANIZATION: Integrative Medicine for the Underserved (IM4US)

Integrative Medicine for the Underserved seeks a temporary project director to support the development of our organization’s next chapter. This person will join our existing staff person, the Director of Membership and Education. The Interim Project Director (PD) will assume primary responsibility for the remote oversight and execution of operations, fiscal management, and strategy of the organization to realize promotion of health equity through integrative health care. 

The PD will strengthen and oversee the infrastructure necessary to execute the mission and vision of IM4US. They will work closely with the IM4US Director of Membership and Education to cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with the organization’s partners, funders, board and members. The PD will virtually oversee day-to-day operations; fundraise and manage organizational finances; supervise staff and contractors; liaise with our fiscal sponsor’s Advisors and Management Team; oversee organizational growth and program implementation; and represent IM4US in a variety of settings.

Required Experience

  • Demonstrated experience of at least 7 years promoting health in underserved populations through clinical care, public health, advocacy or other non-profit experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of Integrative Healthcare field
  • Project management experience
  • Experience managing grants and organizational budgets
  • Demonstrated portfolio of fundraising success including grant writing and individual donor outreach 
  • Experience working with diverse communities including healthcare workers
  • Demonstrated professional skill and/or lived experience addressing racial and health equity, conflict resolution

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Master’s degree in management, non-profit administration, public health, social work, or other field relevant to Integrative Health, and/or Certified Association Executive credential
  • Previous director-level non-profit experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of finance, marketing and/or small business management

Compensation: $70-85K FTE annually, commensurate with experience and total hours. 6-12 month interim position, Health benefits and paid sick time provided.

POSITION: Project Coordinator (Part-Time)

ORGANIZATION: Kingsborough Community College (KCC) –  Workforce Development

Position location is on KCC campus with option for one day a week remote work from home.15 hours a week at $38-$42 an hour. 

Under the supervision of the Vice President and Assistant Dean, for Workforce Development and Continuing Education, the Non-Teaching CET will assist in the coordination, management and operations of the division.
