WorkWell NYC seeks an independent and highly motivated Program Evaluation Fellow to provide monitoring and evaluation support for a variety of worksite wellness initiatives that aim to improve the health and well-being of City of New York employees.
WorkWell NYC is a joint worksite wellness initiative between the Mayor’s Office of Labor Relations (OLR) and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) that focuses on improving the health and productivity of the City’s workforce of over 370,000 employees. WorkWell NYC’s core mission is to create workplaces that engage and empower employees to live healthy, active lifestyles and to provide health and well- being services, programs, and resources for employees and their families. POSITION: Special Projects Fund Intern

The New York Health Foundation (NYHealth) is a private and independent foundation dedicated to improving the health of all New Yorkers. Position Summary:
The Special Projects Fund intern will work closely with the Special Projects Fund program officer and program assistant. This position is ideal for graduate-level students who are interested in learning about public interventions and community strategies that improve health equity and access. Additionally, this position offers interns exposure to health care philanthropy.
The internship will run from October 2022 through June 2023. This is a part-time position (15–18 hours per week). The hourly compensation rate is $18. The work schedule is flexible.

POSITION: Service Fellow (Supervisory Epidemiologist/Medical Officer)

Key Duties and Responsibilities by role:

POSITION: Senior Service Fellow (Health Scientist – Health Informatics)

This position is located in CDC’s Deputy Director for Public Health Science and Surveillance (DDPHSS), Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS), Division of Laboratory Systems (DLS). The mission of DLS is to improve public health surveillance and practice as well as patient outcomes by advancing clinical laboratory quality and safety, data and biorepository science, and workforce competency. Together, these efforts ensure that the nation’s 260,000 certified clinical and public health laboratories can reliably conduct laboratory testing necessary for public health surveillance, emergency response, and patient care.
The primary purpose of DLS’ Informatics and Data Science Branch (IDSB) is to lead and coordinate efforts to improve the utilization of laboratory informatics standards, policies, and procedures to improve interoperability between clinical and public health laboratories, public health agencies and other healthcare delivery systems. The position requires significant engagement with CDC programs agency wide as well as national, state, and local partners on laboratory informatics initiatives.
IDSB is seeking highly qualified candidates for a full-time Senior Service Fellow position as a Health Scientist (Informatics). The ideal candidate will have experience and subject matter expertise in healthcare informatics including knowledge of laboratory data exchange and semantic interoperability.
Job Description: The incumbent will be responsible for the evaluation, design, security, and improvement of information technology solutions to support and advance scientific and business processes, goals, and strategic objectives through the development, implementation, and maintenance of secure tools and applications for laboratory data exchange. The incumbent also strengthens programs in surveillance, research, prevention, and evaluation through innovative integration of information technology with public health science.
As a Health Scientist (Informatics), the incumbent will:
- Evaluate and develop approaches for strengthening the standardization and utility of national health information systems, their products, policies, and processes, with special emphasis on electronic data exchange.
- Inform branch leadership of challenges and potential solutions for improving the use of standard codes and vocabulary mapping services in support of electronic laboratory reporting.

Basic Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
Additional Qualifications:
- Doctoral-level degree in epidemiology or public health.
- One year of postgraduate experience at or above the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations.
- Excellent time/project management and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with laboratory-based and infectious disease focused public health programs.
- Familiarity with electronic laboratory data exchange methods including HL7.

NYU Grossman School of Medicine, we’re recruiting postdoctoral scholars to work in partnership with the senior researchers on the City Health Dashboard team to perform nation-wide research on population health- and health equity-focused topics, as well as methods to advance policy impact. The Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies is administrative home to a funded NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE). This $12 million, 5-year grant, has established the Center for Addiction and Disease Risk Exacerbation (CADRE) beginning August 2019. Our thematic focus is on the relationship between substance use and chronic disease. With the implementation of the university-wide diversity and inclusion action plan, and the recruitment of faculty with interests addressing disparities in vulnerable populations, we are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral research associate with interests in addressing substance use issues in high risk, low SES vulnerable populations, especially in racial and ethnic minority populations. The postdoctoral research associate will primarily work with one or a team of the following faculty comprising the leadership of CADRE: Peter Monti, PhD (PI and Director), Jasjit S. Ahluwalia, MD, MPH (Deputy Director) and Jennifer Tidey PhD (Core Leader). Opportunities to participate in ongoing studies, new pilot studies, work on team grant writing, and write one’s own grant are available.
CAAS research includes laboratory studies of alcohol, tobacco and marijuana use; clinical trials testing behavioral and pharmacologic interventions; studies of intervention mechanisms (using electronic diaries, cue reactivity, behavioral economics, and analysis of therapeutic process variables), alcohol/HIV research, and tobacco regulatory science. CAAS currently has over 60 research grants focused on alcohol and other drug use, representing nearly $11.2 million in direct costs per year.

POSITION: Research Assistant (part-time)
