CUNY School of Medicine is actively seeking CUNY SPH students to apply to their Cancer Epidemiology Education in Special Populations (CEESP) program. The CEESP Program is a research training program funded by the NIH/NCI grant to develop careers of public health students from all schools and programs of public health in the U.S. in the field of cancer epidemiology and cancer prevention and control. The CEESP Program provides funding for students to travel and conduct mentored summer research internships in foreign countries and U.S. minority settings. Accepted students will receive $7,200 from the CESSP Program for their summer work. POSITION: Communications Coordinator
ORGANIZATION: African Services Committee (ASC)
Position Summary: African Services Committee (ASC) is seeking a Communications Coordinator to be based at our office in New York City. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Communications Director to ensure that all communications activities are integrated to support ASC’s (1) fundraising campaigns; (2) advocacy initiatives; and (3) health, housing, legal, educational, and social service programs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the production, development, design, and launch of ASC’s new website

Experience and Education:

- Proven planning and organizational skills and ability to work to tight deadlines and juggle multiple tasks
- Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills. Spoken and written fluency required in English; Fluency or advanced proficiency in French, Spanish, or Wolof preferred but not required
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work efficiently and effectively with both internal and external partners in a multicultural environment
- Excellent computer skills and ability to use standard technology packages such as Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

About The Bridge
The Bridge is a NYC-based supportive housing agency offering a comprehensive range of evidence-based rehabilitative services, including mental health and substance use treatment, housing, vocational training and job placement, healthcare, education, and creative arts programming. In 2014, The Bridge established the Aging Services program to support residents age in place by providing additional older adult-specific services to residents 55 years and older. Today, Aging Services comprises a multidisciplinary mobile team that assesses older Bridge residents, develops individualized care plans, provides treatment, and refers clients to relevant programs and services.
Job Description
The Bridge is looking for a Qualitative Research Intern to support the Aging Services program in an evaluation of the service model.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting in-person qualitative interviews with Aging Services clients, transcribing interviews, coding, and analyzing outcomes
- Supporting the development of interview questions and selection criteria
- Researching relevant public health approaches and principles such as person or human-centered design, health equity, Do No Harm, Critical Race Theory, and more
- Collaborating with the Director of Special Projects and the Assistant Vice President of Aging and Clinical Services on ways to implement changes based on interview and research outcomes
If there are additional areas candidates are interested in learning, we are open to discussing how we can best integrate them into the role.

The NCI Communications Fellowship (NCF), formerly known as the Health Communications Internship Program (HCIP), gives highly-qualified graduate students and recent graduate degree recipients the opportunity to participate in vital communications projects across the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
NCF fellows are offered one-year fellowships in various communications and science-focused offices at NCI. The NCF highly encourages individuals from underrepresented populations to apply.
Eligibility:
Applicants must meet the following qualifications to be considered eligible for the NCF:

These placements will be for one year, with a possible one-year extension. The program capitalizes on an important interdependence between the academic public health community and the EPA, one of the most important public health agencies in the world. What does the Fellowship offer you?

When and where are the Fellowships offered?

Fellows could be placed in various EPA organizations, most of which are located in the Washington, DC area, but could also be located in any of several laboratories, regional offices, or centers throughout the country. Eligibility

Fellowship Stipend
Fellows will receive a stipend payment for the duration of the fellowship based on the education level/degree requirement of the fellowship position. The fellowship stipend is intended to cover all living expenses including housing and project related travel.
In addition to the fellowship stipend, the fellow will have “fellowship allowance” intended to cover health-related expenses incurred during the one year fellowship period. National policy successes include the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act; Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act; Food Safety Modernization Act; and Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act.
The Mark & Sushma Palmer Public Health Advocacy Fellowship provides a two-year, full-time position to an early career public health professional to help them develop valuable advocacy and research skills while promoting nutrition, public health and citizen advocacy.
The Policy Fellow advocates for improved nutrition and health policy with local, state and federal policy makers and engages health professionals, academics, and concerned citizens in supporting nutrition policies. This position reports to the Senior Policy Associate and is available either in CSPI’s Washington, DC office or remotely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Senior Policy Associate to develop and implement advocacy goals and strategies for nutrition policy campaigns. Collaborate with outreach and capacity building, communications, scientific, legal, and other policy staff.
- Strengthen existing relationships and broaden support for food and nutrition policies with partners and elected and appointed officials at the national, state, and local levels, including groups and individuals advocating for public health, racial and health equity and social justice.
- Provide technical assistance, materials, and strategic advice to organizations, coalitions, and policy makers, mobilize grassroots, support federal, state and local advocacy (including lobbying) efforts in support of food and nutrition policies.
- Write and develop advocacy materials, including: fact sheets, reports, letters, social media posts, testimony, petitions, infographics, talking points, and action alerts.
- Review scientific literature to inform policy positions and advocacy strategies.
- Organize and represent CSPI at meetings, events, briefings, webinars, calls, and with the press.
- Supervise interns.
- Carry out other departmental activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MS, MPH, MPP) in health, policy or nutrition; or Bachelor’s degree plus two years of public health or policy experience.
- Commitment to CSPI’s work and mission.

Compensation
The salary range is $50,000 to $55,000, based on experience. This is a two-year grant funded position with the potential to extend, contingent upon funding availability. CSPI offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes: 3 weeks of annual vacation leave; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8 weeks of paid parental leave; excellent medical and dental insurance with CSPI paying a significant portion of employee and dependent premiums; and a three percent employer match contribution to the retirement plan after one year of service.

POSITION: Postdoctoral Fellowship

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join our investigative team on an exciting new five-year trial to examine how guaranteed basic income paired with financial capability training can impact the financial, mental and physical well-being of low-income Black emerging adults (ages 18-24) during their critical period of transition to independence. The work will be conducted in the San Francisco Bay Area in collaboration with investigators from the UCSF Division of Prevention Science, Oregon Health & Science University- Portland State University School of Public Health (OHSU/PSU), MyPath, and UC Berkeley School of Public Health.
We are seeking a fellow to help design and conduct collaborative research on addressing the social determinants of health, assisting with study protocols and design, and working with the team to develop new grants to build on the currently funded research. Analysis and manuscript development will be conducted under the direction of a senior investigative team, with strong emphasis placed on career development, training in grantsmanship, interdisciplinary research, and translation of science into programming and policy.
