The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program is excited to announce an off-cycle, one-year pilot program to provide opportunities for recent graduates interested in exploring a career in global health. We are seeking candidates with graduate degrees from minority-serving institutions interested in gaining global health training and experience working with the CDC. Selected finalists will participate in a one-year full time training fellowship opportunity starting January 2022 in Atlanta, GA, working alongside leading experts across CDC on global health-related projects, focusing on one of five different technical tracks: Epidemiology, Surveillance, Program Management, Strategic Information, and Monitoring & Evaluation.
The PHI/CDC Global Health Fellowship Program, implemented by the Public Health Institute, is funded by the CDC to offer qualified individuals the opportunity to gain global health experience and develop technical skills to address emerging public health threats. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Interested candidates must have received a Master’s or Doctoral degree completed by the end of December 2021 or within the past five years (no earlier than February 2017) from a Minority-Serving Institution, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and Asian America and Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AAPISIs). Job Description
PEU policy interns will work 25 hours per week and receive ongoing training in order to assist PEU’s Policy Director and PEU’s outreach teams, while building professional skills. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Scanning and compiling daily media reports for stories relevant to PEU’s core work
- Researching and tracking relevant pending legislation
- Compiling lists of resources for clients
- Entering, tracking and analyzing data
- Joining team meetings and program planning sessions
- Supporting outreach efforts to New Yorkers through remote outreach tactics, including peer-to-peer texting, phone-banking and relational organizing

Job Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis on issues in the New Frontiers portfolio and write briefs for internal and external use, through desk research and interviews with experts and stakeholders.
- Support the execution of meetings and convenings, by researching potential invitees, managing invitations, and preparing research briefs and other materials.
- Draft grant and contract materials with guidance from program officers.
- Develop documents, reports, articles, infographics, etc. for internal and external communications.
Education, Training and Experience
- Currently enrolled in a graduate program. We are a team of curious generalists and are open to students in a variety of programs. This position may be of particular interest to master’s students in business, journalism, the social sciences, public policy, government, international development, innovation, and similar. PhD students interested in careers outside academia may also be a good fit.

The Position
CHN is seeking a Healthcare Public Policy Intern to support the Manager of Policy and External Affairs. The internship will be primarily based remotely, with additional opportunities to work from CHN’s Central Administrative Office in mid-town Manhattan, and opportunities to visit CHN sites across the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens.
The internship program offers experiential learning opportunities for graduate-level students for a Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health, and. Master of Public Service, among others as applicable to health policy and administration.
The intern will tackle salient healthcare policy issues and support the development, prioritization, and implantation of relevant public policy initiatives and advocacy campaigns, particularly those that address issues affecting underserved communities in New York City.

POSITION: Nutrition Incentives Program Assistant, Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention

The Nutrition Incentives Program Assistant position sits in the Healthy Eating Unit, which aims to promote healthy eating through shaping the environment and building on New Yorkers’ resources, knowledge, and skills. This is a part-time (approx. 21 hours/week) temporary position from November 2021 through June 2022.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Healthy Eating Unit is seeking a Nutrition Incentive Program Assistant to support implementation and evaluation of nutrition incentive programs, which aim to make fruits and vegetables more affordable for New Yorkers with low incomes. The Nutrition Incentive Program Assistant will support the Health Bucks and Half Off Farm Box programs, and other nutrition incentive programs, including Get the Good Stuff, as needed. The Program Assistant will report to the Program Coordinator and join a team of approximately 4-5 people.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help track Health Bucks distribution by farmers markets and community organizations and application of Half Off Farm Box discount by food box and farm share sites. Review and compile data and draft reports for program evaluators.
- Assist with preparation and implementation of the 2022 Health Bucks season including: outreaching to farmers market operators and collecting market information; reviewing applications for Health Bucks from community and faith-based organizations; developing and preparing promotional materials for distribution; distributing Health Bucks to farmers market operators.
- Ensure farmers market locator website and texting service are up to date.
- Assist with other nutrition incentive programs and research projects as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willing to travel to farmers markets, food boxes and farm share sites throughout the five boroughs of NYC.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications with strong Excel skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Current graduate student in nutrition, public health, public policy, or related field.
- Experience working in multicultural settings with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
